View Full Version : Any one using rackshack.net ?
Hi'vry 1!
OK... After my question on C I H O S T Chris, Mom & Co., and the scary stuff some people seem to have to say about them... I just dropped by to check the thread yet another time and up there, the banner was showing a < r a c k s h a c k . n e t > ad.
I clicked 'cause of the 700GB transfer... 80 GB HDD... seemed pretty darn good!...
Any one using them and any comments on service, etc.? What do they offer as cust support? Managed servers? Reliable? Not? Control pannel? Good for dummies, only pros?
TIA for any feedback.
Joao

We are very happy with Rackshack and they have a great network.
They aren't the best for beginners but they have a great user forum. Large choice of Control Panels.
Only ever had a few problems after about 8 months of service from them.

Shrimey 06-18-2003, 01:49 PM Rackshack are great. They have a superb network and offer the very best service in that price range. However, they're not for the light hearted. They will not provide much support (if any) with software related issues. They're totally unmanaged and leave these issues to you. You can usually find companies that will manage your server remotely though. Search the forum.

I thought rackshack.net got banned here :D
Rich2k 06-18-2003, 02:07 PM Would be very funny seeing as they own WHT :D
No I'm very happy with them... but as said above, they are unmanaged servers (for the moment).
Another thing to note. The primary www.php.net site is hosted by WHT.. which in turn is hosted by rackshack.
okihost 06-18-2003, 02:37 PM We have been with Rackshack for over 18 months now and have been nothing but happy with all of our servers. The network is awesome, the support is awesome (as long as you dont need managed support) and there is ALWAYS someone to answer the phone which is a very nice thing to have rather than the dreaded 'voicemail' box many dedicated server providers offer after normal business hours not to mention IRC support and an unbeatable Ensim/Cpanel/Plesk user forum.

runesolutions 06-18-2003, 04:16 PM I've been with RackShack for a couple of years now and never had a problem.
They are unmanaged servers, but they've always been helpful if I've had a problem.
I see the odd scathing post about then occasionally, but I've never had any trouble myself.
Very little in the way of network downtime.
UH-Matt 06-18-2003, 05:52 PM Wow more people use rackshack than he thought :)

Easy Read Version;
Yes, we have two servers at rackshack they are a little slow on reboots but otherwise good.
I would have a server at RackShack, but my CC hasn't come in the mail yet, so I can't pay for one yet, but soon....
NexDog 06-18-2003, 06:32 PM Got 4 servers there and no problems here. No need of a reboot yet. :)
clearstr 06-18-2003, 09:34 PM Any suggestions for companies/individuals to use to help setup/update rackshack servers? I can run whm/cpanel myself, just looking for the occasional os updates help etc...
I'm hoping rackshack will have support plans like servermatrix does...

NexDog 06-18-2003, 10:03 PM Get an admin or get hacked. Simple.

ummm no, why not just learn security yourself. OK it's complicated but far from impossible.
NexDog 06-19-2003, 05:03 AM I am far too busy to learn linux in depth. Sure, I know the basics and maybe more than that but my time is best tending to our client's needs.
Aussie Bob 06-19-2003, 05:08 AM RS seems ok, but no custom partition configs?

I love the partion setup they have...... not. I had to remount my drives, but other then that RS is ok, dont care for their support line, but satisfied with the service none the less. :)
