I'm trying to get an SSL certificate from Thawte for a domain name I own that is registered with Dotster, but it looks like Dotster's WHOIS database is broken and has been for a while (Thawte is trying to verify that I own the domain name). If I use the WHOIS on their site and enter my domain name, it comes back with the results page, but all the data is missing. If I use a different WHOIS (like the one at http://www.networksolutions.com/cgi-bin/whois/whois), it just sits there and does nothing.
Does anyone know of a WHOIS that perhaps uses cached information so I can look up the info for a Dotster-registered domain name? The only thing I found that works is the WHOIS at http://www.internic.net, but that only gives name server data and doesn't show who owns the domain name.
