We are updating security patches and reinstalling some of the software. If you have problem with your site. Please submit a ticket or email to support@detailhosting.com. Our staffs will take care of any issues. forumgp 06-18-2003, 01:12 AM I opened an account with http://www.detailhosting.com/ last Sunday , May 15. The only problem that I noted was a downtime of 2 hours indicated by site monitoring tool May 16. mhocnet 06-18-2003, 01:19 AM Wow.. perhaps i am just lucky.. i do have a ticket in, but didn't know if i was the only one who lost data.... :( Note to self... backups=good What forum did you find that in? littleminx 06-18-2003, 01:21 AM I'm on their silver plan, and also having problems. Got the email from them yesterday, saying that they would be down between 7pm and 10pm for server maintenance, but my sites ended up being down for 24 hours. (Actually, it was down for about half that time - the other half of the time, my domain was accessible but everything had been deleted and I couldn't access email or my control panel.) I emailed support, got a response that they're still doing server maintenance, and that they'd keep me updated. When my sites went back up, it was from a backup from June 7. I run a message board with them, so I wasn't too happy - I would have lost a lot of posts in the past 10 days. (I've been busy with finals, and ironically, the last backup I made myself was on June 7.) Currently waiting to hear back from them to see if they could restore a more recent backup - they promise "UPS and Generator Backup" and "Daily tape back-ups"? Support is usually quick to respond, though. anon-e-mouse 06-18-2003, 01:24 AM Originally posted by mhocnet What forum did you find that in? http://www.freewebspace.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=44505 mhocnet 06-18-2003, 01:39 AM Wow.. thats exactly whats happening to me. :( edit:Thanks for the link! mhocnet 06-18-2003, 11:28 AM Still waiting... Littleminx, did you get your email addresses and mailboxes restored? My have not yet.. but then again my forum data only got bumped back to the 14th. My 100+ forums users would really be pissed if it went back to the 7th. If anyone else learns anything about the situation please keep me informed. stephen@web 06-18-2003, 11:48 AM Dear Customer, We have upgrade our security pathces and software upgrade. If you have any problem please submit a ticket or feel free to call us. Thanks Stephen littleminx 06-18-2003, 12:16 PM mchocnet: I was able to access cPanel and my mail after they restored the old backup yesterday. My last email was from Cindy in support who apologized for the inconvenience, and that they're aware of my situation and currrently looking into it. (Support is normally quick to respond, no complaints there.) A June 14 backup would definitely be better than June 7... 400+ members on my board. :) mhocnet 06-18-2003, 04:41 PM I got the email from cindy also. I also must agree that they are normaly quick to respond. And since i have been with them, this is my first major problem. They have been fairly responcive in my crys for help.. but i guess sometimes i feel better if i know whats actually happening instead of being told they are working on it. I know its not like i can help them or anything... but hey im noisy. Im sure this will have a happy ending.. just need to be patient. mhocnet 06-19-2003, 10:21 AM littleminx, are you all restored yet? littleminx 06-19-2003, 10:38 AM No. I see that your site's still down too? I got a few emails from them today (asking for my cPanel login details, etc.) but when they emailed to say that they'd restored my backup, it was still the one from June 7. I would like to know what's happening as well. (Maybe this (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=153309&highlight=detailhosting)?) But I'm "lucky" that my other site is at Feature Price/Atlantic, so I've learnt infinite patience. :) mhocnet 06-19-2003, 11:38 AM interesting link... Some of my stuff was restored.. some was not. My biggest group of users "bloodaxe.mhoc.net" is up and running again. My main site is not. Nor are my emails restored. Also missing about half of my directories... im starting to get grumpy... I just wish i knew if they can restore whats still missing. If they know they can't, i will start rebuilding. Ah well.. back to class. Madferret 06-19-2003, 01:01 PM My site was restored as well, but not completely. some emails were lost. now i'm having more problems with detailhosting the server seems to be unstable and goes off and on.. right now it's completely off their support is good, but their server seems unstable. i do not know how much more i can take of this RandyO 06-19-2003, 01:09 PM Their own site doesnt work, guess you get what you pay for, I suppose that servers housed in a data center with dedicated personel has its benefits. forumgp 06-19-2003, 02:28 PM I just moved to detailhost because downtime with other host. I hope that they fix the problem soon or I will have to try another host one more time this month. What Datacenter detailhosting is using ? stephen@web 06-19-2003, 02:48 PM We have servers at NAC and NOCSTER. If you provide the domain name we will let you know. Our domain is hosted is Nocster and it is down now. We really apologize for the down time and will give you update ASAP. Nac server is should be stable now. If there is any problem let us know. Thanks Stephen forumgp 06-19-2003, 03:18 PM I sent a private message with the address of my site , but I think my site is at NOCSTER because I started my site with a subdomain of detailhosting. Keep us informed and if possible explain what is happening. My Site is OK now. My site had the same problems described at this thread of burst.net http://forums.burst.net/showthread.php?threadid=1027 large pings and some downtime issues. shivels 06-19-2003, 05:35 PM Detailhosting has been having a lot of problems these last couple days. The whole reason I have my account with them is for shell access because I use Pine for my email. I logged in yesterday and my shell access was disabled. I opened a ticket and they replied with this: --------------------- Hello Aaron, We are sorry for your inconveniece. We have disabled the Shell Access for security reasons and will soon update you with the status. Let us know if you face any other problem. Thank You. --------------------------- I reopened the ticket today and asked what the latest status was and they responded with this: --------------------------- Hello Aaron, We are sorry for your inconveniece. We have disabled the Shell Access for security reasons, we are also doing dome security updations. We will soon enabling the shell access within next 24 to 48 hrs. ---------------------------- They have been pretty good with support, however I don't really like the fact that I lose shell access for a couple days (and can't get to my email or anything) while they are doing security updates. This is a lot of downtime :( -Aaron Yair_Z 06-20-2003, 12:51 PM Similar situation here, anybody knows about the RAM upgrade they promised and what's going on with it? I'm having at least one downtime every day.. Great support though, but I guess it's not enough when it comes to hosting. mhocnet 06-20-2003, 05:44 PM Well.. it got fixed.. but then crashed again this morning. No backup of yesterdays data was available... back to the 14th. I still get quick responce times to my support querys, but if they can't fix it, whats the point? Madferret 06-20-2003, 08:44 PM Yes I agree. Support is usually there and responds fast, but servers are still down a lot. Good thing I am still in my 30-day trial littleminx 06-20-2003, 09:33 PM The latest backup they could restore for me was the one on June 7, so I've lost all my posts for 10 days. Plus the 3 days that I took the message board offline when trying to sort it out with support. I've cancelled my account (though Stephen did offer a refund for the past month.) I was with them since February, and support's always been fine. Didn't have much problem with downtime in the beginning either, but over the past 2 or 3 months, their servers have been down a lot. Hope they get it sorted for current/future customers. NexDog 06-20-2003, 09:41 PM Aaron, you don't have to use pine for reading email. Why don't you just use webmail (or god forbid - Outlook- eek). NAC is stable these days (Pegasus line anyway) but Nocster has terrible problems. Detailhosting should think about moving their main site to somewhere else. forumgp 06-21-2003, 07:52 PM I think the site is down again. Any problem with NOCSTER ? |
