I vent my anger again!

get this, i contact Microsofttech support, the company is work for are certified solutions providers so we get free support tickets, anyways.

im trying to install MS Office 2000 on Windows 2000, and it keeps on popping up with an error message and failing setup, very annoying, so i look in technet, no answer, its like its never happened. I look at technet online, nothing.

So I decide on phoning their costly support line and use one of our 5 free support tickets, i give the guy the error message, and he asks me to add a registry key, I add the key and try setup, guess what

IT WORKS !!

I ask him the "Q" article number, as every technet article has one, and he says "sorry thats an un-released article", i felt like swearing at him SOOOOOO hard.

so get it, they find a solution, and dont release the answer for a few months, so people will phone up the premium rate number to get the answer, which only they know because the article has been market "internal use only"

absolute TWATS im tellin ya !!

ok, and here is the solution for all you wondering:

goto regedit:

hkey local machine> software> microsoft> current version> explorer> shell folders

and make a string value of "Common Startup"

and point the string value to :

"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup"

and retry the installation. they key already exists if setup has completed sucessfully, it only happens on automated installations of office 2000 ! works fine when installed directly from CD
