Hi there,

I'm writing this in the hope that one of the Steve's at Netstartz will see this.
I can't get in contact with any support staff as the Netstartz website is down including email.

Your server has been down for 14 hours straight, whats going on?

Regards

Essexguy

i refuse to be one of those WHT guys who come hear to kick and scream about their site being down, but this is so frustrating.

I have a few of my clients on a reseller account with netstartz, and i really need to speak to someone from netstartz. (they seem to have disappeared lately.)

my webactivehosting.com site is on a different server, just in case this kind of thing happened.
try netstartz.com or even hostparticle.com as i think they operate on the same server.
the ip address is 69.22.169.70

unfortunately i get nothing

hey, netstartz are not going anywhere, but there has been a problem at the datacenter:

Hi,

We were installing APC on your machine and the power blowed up, we'll replace the power outlet in the early morning when the datacenter technican start working.

Sorry for the inconveience and we'll credit you for the downtime as stated on the SLA.

Please email sunlo@hostany.com to dicuss the compansation.

Regards,
Hostany Support

They are basically stuck... servers with no power do not serve up web sites too good. I'm sure you'll get a refund, an appology and the staff there will try and get things back to normal ASAP

thankyou phision.com, thats all i wanted to know.
i completely understand if it is something out of their control.

although i do think that hosting companies should place their websites away from their servers, or at least a status page somewhere else.

Yikes, turn the clock speed back down.

hmmm how long does it take to replace a power outlet, the server has been down for 17 hours now. and the "early hours of the morning" have long gone.

no criticism of netstartz, but i think the datacenter need to get off their ass

Hey,

I'm sorry for the inconvience presented by this problem. In addition to ISP problems that left me w/o access to the net (except for 56k) for the weekend, this happened with the server and we had no means of contacting hostany besides mail. (Would love if they got phone#) I will credit everyone on the mars server a free month due to this. We may move you to a different datacenter that has a bit more support options when things like this happen.

Email pager@netstartz.com in case of an emergency or a downed server and you'll get me anywhere any time. Thank you.

Certainly not...;)

We are currently redesigning our site, pricing ( better pricing ), business plan, and just about everything else. We'll be around for the long run. Toll-Free Support is next...

Thanks.
I just need 2 good weeks with them and we're out of there...it was just a temporary solution to get away from burstnet problems while waiting for a good deal on servers and finding people to share a cabinet with in ny.

My god, they can't even pull a technician in when they aren't working? If one of our servers goes down and I'm not around, pretty sure someone will be ringing me up to get my ass back to a computer to fix it if no-one else can.

I would question an outlet blowing. Breakers trip when over loaded, but that takes seconds to fix. If the site is staffed any tech should be able to fix a breaker. If it is not staffed I hope the savings you recieve justify the downtime. If you are not saving then I would definately look around.

The other thing that I have seen cause 17 hour downtime is a customer not paying their bill. I am not saying that is what happened, but blowing an outlet doesnt sound like the full story. You could be current, but if your provider didnt pay his provider you are going to be down. Most DCs wont turn it back up until the account is current.

I've an account with netstartz, and emailed hostany, and they replied with the same email steven pasted here. So it is indeed true, or at least that is the true reason they told Steven and I.

My point was they specifically said outlet and plug. If it was fused correctly this shouldnt happen. If it did they should be able to call in someone to fix it in much shorter time. If it was a power strip they can be replaced in minutes.

Some companies arent willing to call in emergency services when emergencies happen. If their equipment caused a customer to be down they should call in their electrical contractor and pay the afterhours rate. Its expensive, but it goes with owning a data center.
