Jedito 07-15-2001, 06:27 PM thawte ($125) Equifax ($99) Verisign ($249 I think, not sure about that) Marty 07-16-2001, 06:44 AM Go here https://www.equifaxsecure.com/s3/process.html and you can purchase Equifax for $68. kwimberl 07-16-2001, 02:39 PM Has anyone used the equifax certs? sbrad 07-16-2001, 02:42 PM Go here https://www.equifaxsecure.com/s3/process.html and you can purchase Equifax for $68. Cool...where did you dig that up? ;) ;) ;) Marty 07-16-2001, 03:18 PM Somebody posted it on this board before. That is where I purchased my cert. I currently use equifax for my secure cert. I would post a link so you could see it in action, but that would border on breaking the advertising rules, so you will have to find it in action the hard way. Look below. :) Chicken 07-16-2001, 09:07 PM I have one of those. Also, I could be wrong, but I believe that URL might be aimed at resellers, and if so, this might *might* be what they are talking about... Got this email from Equifax: Unfortunately, we are changing our program and are discontinuing our Referral Rewards Program effective July 31, 2001. At that time, we will disable all URLs which accept referrals for the Equifax Secure eBusinessIDs (Digital Certificates). You may still purchase Equifax Secure eBusinessIDs at our very affordable price by visiting http://www.equifaxsecure.com/ebusinessid/step_one.html. Now, I'm not sure if this *is* what they are talking about or not, but maybe someone else knows. If so, I'd think it means these URL's might not be valid for much longer. Anyone with info? Craig 07-16-2001, 09:19 PM find out quick cos i like the sound of that price :) Regards Craig kwimberl 07-16-2001, 10:39 PM hmm. Perhaps I should go purchase a couple. hehe CagedTornado 08-06-2001, 06:49 PM Check out FreeSSL at http://www.freessl.com ... they offer free SSL certs and $49 Equifax certs. Of course the cert isn't in my name but I didn't feel like waiting around for my own. ben www.UsaveHosting.com Lonny 08-09-2001, 07:19 PM I heard of: http://www.ssl4less.com good luck microsol 08-09-2001, 09:14 PM Originally posted by Precise Anyone use FreeSSL? Feedback... Thanks, Patrick We use it since last week. I had problems at the beginning taking 4 days for my first cert. Got very friendly help from their support and 2 hours later i had my fist cert from them. More certificate applications took actually only minutes to go throught and i had the cert in my email. So i am happy with them, at least for now and we just signed the reseller contract. :D smartbackups 08-09-2001, 09:57 PM after reading about freessl here, I went out and got a finished cert in less than 15 minutes, that is from generating my csr to verifying the request and then receiving back the final cert. Works fine in IE, but not in Netscape it seems, but hey, It has been almost 5 days since I have heard from thawte and no updates at all on my status page, yep, I think this will work for me. slade 08-09-2001, 11:01 PM Originally posted by smartbackups ...snip... Works fine in IE, but not in Netscape it seems,... snip...[/B] I want to think I read in a prior posting you could download a cert update for netscape to make it "see" these certs. I went looking on the web, but haven't found it yet... sbrad 08-10-2001, 12:15 AM Well, it's not so much that the cert *doesn't work* with netscape. It's that Netscape didn't include that cert as "trusted". The cert works just fine with Netscape...IF the user chooses to trust it. sPoT! 09-04-2001, 02:47 AM I went to freessl and the one affiliated with OpenSRS/Tucows earlier. Niether appear to be backed by any fraud protection. With Equifax, (I believe) you are backed by a $100,000.00 fraud protection from CityGroup. And if you read the ToS from Thwate, you will find that any and all disputes are to be handled by the court system of thier country (South/West Africa) To some, that may not be that big of a deal. Just remember, sometimes you do get what you pay for  |
