Akash 06-15-2003, 12:57 PM Seeing as how the first thread was ruined:

We'll revote using the above finalists.
blue27 06-15-2003, 12:59 PM Good to see it's back.
Coach still gets my vote.
SoftWareRevue 06-15-2003, 01:00 PM REALLY a hard choice. But, I have to go with my original vote of akashik.
Coach 06-15-2003, 01:01 PM Glad to see it back as well. :)
Go Sprintserve!
mcdesign 06-15-2003, 01:18 PM Go DarkTidesNET!
rrdega 06-15-2003, 01:26 PM <<-- Would love to vote... But I read the rules: - Only members who have registered prior to the given month are eligible. (Registered Date Must be April 30th, or earlier. Glad to see its back though!!!
mcdesign 06-15-2003, 01:37 PM Haha nice work reading the rules :p

Ah!!! My bad... :o I misunderstood!
In that case... Oh my... Its a tough bunch! << Folding up my secret vote 'n stuffing it in the ballot box... >>
Aussie Bob 06-15-2003, 02:42 PM Go akashik. :D
Mark_TVI 06-15-2003, 03:10 PM Cheering for the Coach, how's that for irony?
Go Coach!
:emlaugh:
Coach 06-15-2003, 03:13 PM lol, that's the one Coach joke that has never been used on me before. Nice one. :D

If they weren't here, how can they know?
Pilgrim 06-15-2003, 03:37 PM Any idea how to get around the technical difficulties of implementing that rule? :D

SWR, I believe a thought like that went through my head as I first read the rules, and thus my misinterpretation... It would make perfect sense to me! And it would preclude the issues of folk registering just to stuff the ballot box, eh?

I'm not sure of the overall "powers" of the mods, but can't they "see" who casts votes, and just delete out those with registration dates that're too late? Granted, the rolling results might flucuate, but in the end the result could be made accurate, eh?
Xshare 06-15-2003, 04:22 PM Coach....
Chachi 06-15-2003, 05:22 PM Oh boy I'm finally on here! and two people have voted for me! (thanks whoever you are!)
2 out of 30,000 members like me!
...well it's a start
Edit: My vote goes to DarktidesNET - I'm a sucker for nice people ;)
Esr Tek 06-15-2003, 05:26 PM Tough choices.. however I picked akashik :D
Lesli 06-15-2003, 09:24 PM I cast my vote for Coach (again), though Darktides or akashik coulda been contenders :D
allan 06-15-2003, 10:36 PM akashik -- us oldtimers gotta stick together ;).
shaunewing 06-15-2003, 10:48 PM akashik and Coach are equal first.. 18 each :D
I've voted.. but it's a secret :p

DarktidesNET 06-15-2003, 11:00 PM GO SPRINTSERVE! He gets my vote.
Tropical Tundra 06-15-2003, 11:56 PM Voted for coach his posts are always very helpful and informative. He was very helpful in this thread: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=152009

Still are after a few more votes (even)... gosh this is actually getting a little exciting... maybe I won't have to be the brides-maid again :D
Coach 06-16-2003, 12:31 AM akashik, I'm sure I'll be bridesmaid. But if I have to wear pink again, I'm going to be highly upset. :D
Lesli 06-16-2003, 12:35 AM But you look so charming in pink! Though fuschia really does bring out the colour in your eyes so much better... *g*
Coach 06-16-2003, 12:59 AM Shush now... back for my senior prom so many years ago my date wore a fuschia dress and she insisted I wear something to match it, so we went and that's what she picked out.
Fuschia cumberbund and shash. :(
Ugh... I can't believe I just posted that on a forum with nearly 40,000 people.
anon-e-mouse 06-16-2003, 01:06 AM Need to see a photo of that, Coach :D
Coach 06-16-2003, 01:17 AM I had a dork haircut to go along with it. I'm sure my mom still has those photos around somewhere so I'll get in touch with her and get them scanned and send them to you.
Or perhaps I might just start a "Post your nerdy pic" thread. :D
Knogle 06-16-2003, 02:16 AM Go Coach! :D
blue27 06-16-2003, 06:49 AM Fuschia cumberbund and shash
Hmmm. Rethinking that vote for coach.:D
imitech 06-16-2003, 09:33 AM My vote goes to akashik :)
UH-Matt 06-16-2003, 09:39 AM Hmm tough choice between DarktidesNet and Fazel :-/
Knogle 06-16-2003, 09:53 AM Do you not know the rule of "follow the case", Matt? It's DarktidesNET! :D
UH-Matt 06-16-2003, 09:54 AM I "followed the case" directly from how it was written in the poll at the top of the screen :)
DarktidesNET 06-16-2003, 09:55 AM Blame akash!

Eric Lim 06-16-2003, 10:00 AM I didn't know what has happened at the previous voting table, i thought I had another chance to vote using different OS to browse the forum. :D
And so I voted Coach since I previously voted DarktidesNet. Hmn.. If DarktidesNet is up for the next month voting, ya will definitely have my vote.
Good luck Coach.
Chachi 06-16-2003, 11:48 AM I think that Bryan should have got the MOTM award for May regardless of what ub3r did.
I'm only in here because of ub3r's unsportmanship, I couldn't really find any reasons why I should be voted MOTM. Having said that I desperately want a WHT t-shirt, perhaps HeadSurfer or Akash might be feeling generous this month and give us soon-to-be-confirmed losers a free consolation prize t-shirt ;)

Chachi 06-16-2003, 05:24 PM not if you're a horse like me ;)

Speaking just for myself, I did an awful lot of reading here before registering.
Coach 06-16-2003, 07:33 PM Thank you Enigmatics, that's very flattering to know that you think that highly of me. ;)
And thank you to the rest that have voted so far as well, no matter who you voted for.
*cough* I see sprintserve coming up on the backstretch *cough* Go sprintserve!
Pipson 06-16-2003, 07:42 PM Coach has my vote
ps its my 200th post YEPEEE
Darktwist 06-16-2003, 09:20 PM I've voted Fazel :)

akashik 06-17-2003, 01:44 AM Coach is taking a substantial lead... (should have bought the whip for this old nag - it's running out of puff coming into the home straight)
:D
DarktidesNET 06-17-2003, 01:41 PM That's okay, I've seen Coach up here so many times I think it's just his time.

Don't feel bad..have a beer
I get the feeling next month will go right for you ;)
DarktidesNET 06-17-2003, 01:50 PM I'm not, I think sprintserve should win over me anyways. :D :)
Coach 06-17-2003, 03:13 PM It's tough every month. I think Bryan deserves it, sprintserve, akashik, fazel, Lesli and many others here. People like that, ones I didn't mention and the ones that have won it before (and been nominated before) have really made this place continue to be a quality place to be. The mods also get a serious nod in that.
It continually amazes me that with as many people that this place has, it still has some sort of order. If we could only get some more of the quality posters at WHT to post in the requests forum occassionally, I think that area would increase in quality as well.
I may be the only one who thinks this, but I believe that the overall quality of WHT has stepped up a few notches in the last month or two.
Esr Tek 06-17-2003, 03:24 PM Nicely put Coach! :D
I disagree about the request forums bit.
The higher quality host's can not really post to requests.
There is the 30% (I think that's it) rule.
But that's another topic that has been hashed out millions of times!! :eek3: :(
Lesli 06-17-2003, 03:24 PM We've definitely got a core of really strong posters, both frequent and not-so-frequent. Must...keep...raising...post...quality...!! :D
Hey - we need a teeshirt that says *that* for MOTM, not just the WHT name and logo.
EDIT TO ADD: And Esr Tek, I reply to some of the threads in the requests forum. I usually get underbid, but every once in a while someone does decide to check the site. Low signup percentage compared with how many threads I've replied to; but then again, some of them may be back on WHT in a few months (either because their host went under, or the customer decides that they want a different feature set, or other things.)

Hey - we need a teeshirt that says *that* for MOTM, not just the WHT name and logo. Yes. Much better than, "Must...keep...raising...post...COUNT...!!"
Chachi 06-17-2003, 03:41 PM We certainly do have a nice member base with some real gems in our midst. I've noticed that the community spirit at WHT has improved over the last few months and MOTM has played a very huge part in that in my opinion. Of course having said that the new moderating team has also settled in nicely and their contribution should really be recognized in some way (perhaps by opening up MOTM to them as well?)
It seems Coach will win (barring no major ub3r style upsets) - so congratulations are in order for him :)
Coach 06-17-2003, 03:52 PM Speaking of post counts, Esr Tek finally has 1000. :)
I agree with Lesli, as usual. I rarely post there, but when I do post there, it is always under cut. However not everyone who requests goes for the cheaper plans. I specifically remember one where my offer was 3x higher than most of the other offers (still within guidelines of course though).
The customer signed up here, not with the lowballers because they understood quality over price.
Unfortunately, people think that a day or so of downtime is the norm, as is taking a couple of days to answer a ticket. Perhaps if more of the better hosts posted offers there instead of letting it be a newbie playground, the expectations of service would increase and people would realize the difference between the prices they normally see down there and what better providers offer.
Then again though, my time here at WHT is better spent in forums other than that one, so I can understand why many feel it is a waste of time.
Meh... :(
blue27 06-17-2003, 04:12 PM I think whether or not to post in the request forum could be a thread of its own. In the few months I've been hanging around this forum I don't think there has been more than a couple dozen requests that were even reasonable enough for me to reply to.
Lesli 06-17-2003, 04:45 PM You've definitely got a point, blue27. Lots of posts with people who want lots of resources for a low fee. Some of them simply don't know what they need, but they figure that getting more for paying less is a good thing (I used to be this way - that's what lead me to sign up with Communitech in the first place.) If they're coming from the free web hosts, they haven't really had the tools to see how much bandwidth they use; and I don't know if Geocities has, in the many years since I stopped using the service, put bandwidth information in place on the free accounts (how much people get per month, let alone how much a given site actually uses per month.)
Esr Tek 06-17-2003, 05:50 PM hehe Yes finally I'm in 1k club...
It took me a bit, but I read more than I post :D
(Plus I frequent many other forums, one of which has a 1.5k post count ;) :D )
Blue - I completely agree... Hardly ever anything worth replying to.
I hardly look at them anymore, as I got sick of seeing promising titles and get in to see they want
10Gb space and 300GB reseller for FREE or under $10 a month :puke:
Mark_TVI 06-19-2003, 01:52 PM When does the voting end or did I just miss it?
