Hello everyone!
I am in need of assistance. Is there any program that will allow me to insert a photo album of some sort into my website. One that will work with Frontpage 2002. I need to desperately add photos, but I dont want to link so many pics. Please help me.
Thanks
Igor

dandanfirema 06-14-2003, 11:29 PM You might want to consider either gallery or 4images. I personally use 4images for my family stuff and have a number of customers that use it and like it alot. I have seen some that are fairly customized as well as a number of easy to apply themes to 4images that look pretty decent.

BoneFish 06-14-2003, 11:39 PM No offense to CD Burnt but there a ton of great gallery apps out there that are GNU
..And can be downloaded for free

BoneFish 06-14-2003, 11:43 PM Go here for a lot of GNU resources http://www.gnu.org/directory/ there is a search run one for gallery and you will be pleased
Tropical Tundra 06-15-2003, 02:27 AM If you're using Front Page you can just use their photo gallery maker. File...new...select photo gallery. Then upload the pics and you can add comments etc. Then just publish like you would do any other page using front page.
Hey ARPMN. See I cant figure out how to use the frontpage albums. When I go to save the page it gives me some gay message that says "To save this page and photo gallery, open a frontpage based website and save the page to that site"
WHAT THE HELL does that mean?!?!?!?! How do I save it to what?
Tropical Tundra 06-16-2003, 01:29 AM Igor--you need to save your web album-photo gallery to an empty web folder. Just create an empty web folder then save your web album in that web folder.
This way in front page:
FILE->NEW->PAGE or WEB->and then in the pane choose Empty web. The pane will be on the right hand side under NEW your choice should be Blank Page or Empty Web. Click on "Empty Web" and save your web album to that folder. That should work. Try that out.
hekwu 06-16-2003, 01:36 AM Do you have adobe photoshop? That works well. I used that program to upload over 900 pics. I use FP... the program put the pics in html and everything.
Alex042 06-17-2003, 08:12 AM A FrontPage gallery is pretty good and easily implemented on a Windows Frontpage web. It actually creates a ton of html pages for the galleries as opposed to utilizing a database as many other photogalleries use so it has it's disadvantages as well as advantages. I'm not sure the Linux version has this feature or not as I haven't tested it, but it's pretty easy in the Windows version.
This one is by far the best in my opinion - Gallery:
http://gallery.menalto.com/
It has user permissions, will make all thumbnails for you, allows readers to comment, and has fancy image upload pages.

I have looked at that gallery and it looks great but I've been intimiated to try it. It appears to be over my non-techie head to install. I've used image walker also(http://www.imagewalker.com) and that one is pretty simple to use just like the front page gallery. I'll take a stab at the menalto gallery because I hear such good things about it.
It is really worth going through the trouble of installing.
If you can't get it to work, as your current host if they would do it for you.

Front page gallery also doesn't get along well with Netscape.
I would recommend 4images Gallery.
digiguy 06-17-2003, 04:15 PM I don't know any gallery scripts at all as I'm not that kind of person. However, one of my friend who had created a web site himself and I thought that was nice to share with you all.

blue27 06-17-2003, 04:18 PM This is really not the place for that post digiguy.
digiguy 06-17-2003, 04:25 PM Oh sorry! I didn't mean that. My bad!
Thanks guys. But I hate to complain, but there is no such site as that menalto gallery, it says page cannot be found.
And I cant seem to get on the 4images gallery either.

Hmmm, they must be down. Did you try creating the web folder first in front page? Once you do that and save your photo gallery in that web folder you will be able to publish your web album online using front page.

It's working for me.

Tropical Tundra 06-19-2003, 06:32 PM The menalto gallery website is back up now:

ktulu 06-20-2003, 09:10 AM I think gallery is really great. 4Images seems nice too, but its not free for personal use. I'd rather use free of GPL'd software, I don't like restrictions like that.
blue27 06-20-2003, 09:22 AM You could try Coppermine. I use it as well as 4homepages. It's in English which helps. It has a lot of features. It's easy to install. And it's free.
