Just making sure that there is nothing as hosting companies that we need to do for any new TLD's. I have seen .LA, .GZ, etc.
I just had someone come through for a .auction TLD.
Here is a link for more info on it

It seems that everything should work OK other than people having to patch their browsers, which seems... well, crazy!
And what about DNS? Can they just point the domain to our nameservers with no problems? Or do we need to update our accounts to have those domains recognized?

i believe those aren't real TLDs..
if i remember correctly, all that browser patch does is make you go to http://find.auction.new.net when you type in 'http://find.auction' (using the example on that page)
i may be wrong.. search google

They are fake, and only people who have spyware from new.net installed can see them. :)

They are fake
LOL... Like as in "Super Hero" fake or as in "The World Wrestling Entertainment" (WWF)?
Or do you mean like .auction names aren't really TLD's? They are just a "fake" TLD.

Really? Well, what do you suggest for someone that wants to use them? This particular customer already signed up.

Suck up the loss and get a .com
These TLDs dont work because they are not standard. If every browser had them, I could understand their value, but that will never happen.

Tell them that if their problem is too many users who can access their site, then a new.net domain is a really great way to exclude the majority of the population from ever seeing their web site and reduce the traffic. Then suggest they read more carefully next time and tell them to get an actual domain.
