Waited 3 months for a domain name on hold to be deleted just to have a domain name pirate company grab it and place it immediately for sale. Paid $69 to snapnames to back order it. For what? At the time I did not realize there were so many other name grabbers that were cheaper and better. I hate this practice.
I guess this will happen with anything when there is one unit of supply and many units of demand. $$$ opportunity. I'm just pissed.

Generally the cheaper "snaps" are not better. And some of the largest domain "scavengers" have their own private pipes. They're going after fewer names than the public services so they usually get the best expiring dotcoms.

at least you learned something :) I'm kinda curious about what domain name you were after. Care for sharing it?

They go after tons of names and have their own connections. The domain grabbing game is a game of chance. If you dont take risks, you cannot win big (most of the time). Welcome to reality.
on the backordering is a waste - it is not a waste at all. SnapNames wins a lot and BuyDomains uses them to get names all the time. So they obviously are worth it to some people.

You can always try for another name with the snap or sell it.

On Memorial Day weekend, I had 3 domains I was watching. I bought a GoDaddy backorder for one of them, and manually watched the names all day, with particular intensity around the normal NetSol 2pm drop.
BuyDomains got all 3 of them. They must have a good internal program.

"I" now believe it's a waste to pay $$ to backorder a premium name. It's obvious to me the "big guys" are going to "snap" these up. Maybe deals are made behind closed doors......... Who knows

If you are after a premium domain name, I suggest you use SnapNames in conjunction with NameWinner as they both catch about 70% of dropping domain names. You DO have a chance of catching domain names, however no service is perfect... :)
