View Full Version : I need suggestions for choosing host
After checking cnet.com's suggestions for choosing host, i still cannot decide which one i should choose. My website will feature photos that i took from couple of cities. The amount of photos is around 1500. (i will keep the pics small).
my requirement for the host are:
1. less than US$30 monthly fee
2. hopefully no setup fee (or less than US$10)
3. have free-trail
4. around 200-3000mb storage and around 10gb of bandwidth per month (a large hourly bandwidth is prefered)
5. reliable and a fast server
6. good customer service
7. easy to use
8. 10 email accounts is good enough
9. no extra charge when bandwith is exceeded (just slow down the speed)
anyone have suggestions based on their positive experience??
oops, i meant 200 to 300 mb of storage
inteltechs 06-14-2003, 05:12 AM I was going to recommend Pair but their prices are not that good for you budget. You might try the request forum.
gallot 06-14-2003, 10:46 AM I'm sure you'll get quality hosts with your asking price. 10GB a month at less than $30 is jsut fine. :)
Reality Hosting 06-14-2003, 11:05 AM The only problem you're going to run into is #9. Any host that agrees to no extra charge for you exceeding your bandwidth is not going to be reputable.
Romanticus 06-14-2003, 12:47 PM Go to ISPserver.com, EVDS is ok for you I think.
Cirtex 06-14-2003, 01:27 PM www.hostgator.com and www.datah.com might suite you well :)
thx people!
i am thinking if westhost.com is a good host, it got a lot of good rating in cnet.com
Hoobastank68, have u actually try any of them?
also, i read some old threads that always relates theplanet.com to datah.com, what is this all about? are they the same provider?
psalicrup 06-19-2003, 02:49 AM Vins, we are not related to them. We just have our servers at their datacenter.
coight 06-19-2003, 03:04 AM Ratings on hosting directories don't mean much most of the companies pay to get high listings.
Tess56 06-19-2003, 03:10 AM I can recommend you sultanhost.com or venturesonline.com . Worked with both of them and been very satisfied. very professional at both ends. One remainder through, you will not get many reliable companies who will let you use their bandwith without charging you for it over your quoted limit.

ReferralHosting 07-17-2003, 04:21 AM Did you find your host yet vins?
coight 07-17-2003, 04:27 AM I would guess so after a month, whats the point of brining up old threads?
Leo Grini 07-17-2003, 09:35 AM anyone have suggestions based on their positive experience??
Actualy we put limits for bandwidth for our plans. but if you ready to spend around $30 a months you can easy go with us. for $10 a months we offer 400Mb of disc space and 4 GB of bandwidth. every additional Gb of bandwidth cost $2.5 a month. so for $24 a month you will have what are you looking for. plus, you will have free e-commerce enabled web template for free. (template value $125)
ReferralHosting 07-17-2003, 07:43 PM Sorry.. I was just curious on which host he had found. :) .
tonomud 07-21-2003, 01:02 PM I've been with http://www.hostgator.com for a little over a month, and have been pleased with the speed and reliability of the servers. Also, the one time I had to get in touch with tech support, the "issue" (actually not even their fault) I had was resolved within an hour.
Their baby croc plan (500 MB/15 GB) should be adequate for you.
BlueB 07-21-2003, 10:46 PM Shouldn't this be in a REQUEST A WEB HOST forum? Anyway...
I agree with Reality here... that simply slowing down over-bandwidth isn't very feasible. Above all else, there are bandwidth costs that your host will need to pay.
Otherwise, it shouldn't be hard to find a host to meet your criteria (except #9)... for example, I can provide you with solutions that will probably meet your requirements quite easily. Most hosting providers provide extremely decent hosting speeds and are comparable. The difference is in their support - whether if they take 2 hours, or weeks to reply.

NickRac 07-21-2003, 10:47 PM I'd suggest myself but that is both against the rules and I'm not a host...in that case I suggest unitedhosting.co.uk
