In case anyone hasn't seen them yet, VA Linux is selling some servers (http://www.valinux.com/systems/) really cheap. It seems that these are what is left after their fire sale of the past two weeks, and the prices really are amazing (generally around half of the price Penguin Computing is selling the same systems for).
So... get them before VA Linux sells them all off ;)
PS. No, I'm not associated with them at all, I just think these are really great deals. *Sigh.* I wish I had an excuse to buy a server...
Direct quote from VAlinux.com:
Important Message from VA to its systems customers
VA Linux has decided to discontinue systems sales as it focuses on other aspects of its Linux business. Consequently, VA has drastically reduced prices on select pre-configured models to deplete inventory.
Looks like they are either going out of business, or they could be going into a designing period and come out with a new product.
NOTE: I just looked here: http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=lnux&d=c and found that VA Linux (stock: LNUX) has been falling drastically. From $60 in September 2000, to a now low of $2.75. Doesnt look too good for the VA Linux Corp.

They had some even better deals before: $800 for a dual PIII 750 w/ 512 MB RAM + 36GB SCSI HDD; which is now around $1,350.

VA announced that they will be exiting the hardware business.

i doubt they'll go out of business, they bought linux.com a while back for a few million and their osdn network is pretty popular.

I'm sure they're trying to get out of areas that aren't profitable for them to slow their burn rate.
Woohoo! The big 5-0-0
