Hi guys,

Okay, I've been eyeing RAQ servers for some time now but I'm really tempted to get the RAQ 4i on RackShack.

Question. I've heard a lot of people say that MySQL runs like a pig on 128MB RAM. We intend on running MySQL on this machine.

The main site we intend to host has about 120,000 visitors a month, moves about 50GB's of data a month. On average we have about 10-30 simultaneous users.

Would really appreciate any comments or advise.

Thanks guys!!!!

Leo

RAM is cheap - get 512 mb while you're at it.

Mmmm...I wish. But RackShack charges on a monthly basis. It's not a once off upgrade payment.

Hi,

We have mySQL on our raq server and it seems to run fine. (Depending how big your web site is etc)

As you get bigger just upgrade the ram, it should be able to handle what you want to do. Remember its only you on the RAQ, no one else.

Why not get one from Tera-Byte.com as they are offering 512Mb ram for only US$150..

Oh cuz the $150 doesn't include bandwidth fees.

Rackshack now gives 175GB of bandwidth a month. Whoa that's a lot for $99 dollars. But than again, ram is more expensive, while the server is cheap. 4ws.com's ram is cheap while the server is expensive.
