freehosts.com is pretty good but they cap out at like 125kb on ftp. thx

hehehe, unlimited, hehehe, ahh. good laugh. Sorry, but there ain't no such thing. Just search this forum with the word "unlimited" or "unmetered" and you'll see why. Any host offering unlimited transfer is taking a really, really big bet and will cut you off if they think you are using too much.

I would not think you would ask for unlimited bandwith via http for your customers on an adult site ????
but to help yo out if you want max bandwith for your adult content
might have to go to someone like efreeservers
$1.5 per gig and ya get a free dedicated server ya get to keep after 20 months

not sure about rackshack or not but they have cheap bandwith

yeah not really worried about traffic bandwith(when that happens ill go to a paid host) my biggest prob is ive got some 200kb jpgs that i cant get on line with adult hosts I understand why they cap but god almighty some of the caps are like 75kb and im trying to put hi res images online.

That's got to be one of the ultimate BS* items in hosting, unlimited transfer for an adult site. I'd give you a snowball's chance in the Bahamas of finding it. Adult hosts do not play the law of averages with transfer. You'll see them offer exactly what you get and nothing more since adults sites will likely use every bit of their alloted bandwidth and more.

It's a bit ironic when you consider that all of the dirtiest tricks on the Internet come from adult sites.

A friend of mines site is about 60MB of storage, and his bandwith is around 300 GB a month at the moment. (And thats just toples babes:D )

Adult hosting is just like normal hosting, except you pay a lot more!

It's actually two different perspectives as it deals with adult sites at different levels. At the hosting level, they don't play the law of averages, promising more transfer than you need or will likely use. For adult sites, they priced on actual usage. They won't promise 20 gb transfer figuring you'll use no more than 2. They will price a 20 gb account expecting you will use 20 gb. There is no deception. Resources are priced based on the fact that they are expected to be used.

On the site level, attracting consumers, it's a whole different market and a whole different treatment. the object is to attract as many people as possible to as many sites as possible (for the click through sites), or as many as possible to the content site. There are no rules. Any dirty trick that can be used wil be used.

Adult sites have given us:
pop up ads
pop ups when you hit Back on your browser
automatic redirects to other sites
innocent sounding URLs that lead to adult sites
misuse of keywords so the search engines will index them and mislead you to an adult site whn you were looking for something else, anything else
blatant lies of course
automatic downloads (with misleading buttons to click on) that connect you to certain sites, dial porn pay phone lines, etc.

and a whole bunch more. I didn't even mention the spamming (both e-mail and newsgroup) and dirty tricks there.

About 3 years ago, a friend was ahvihng a site created by a woman who had been an adult webmistress. I spoke with her on the phone and it was she who told me that the adult industry was responsible for all the dirtiest tricks. I knew of some of them already by that point and did not question her statement in the least.

She couldn't have been more correct.
