Ok, my neighbors across the street have up this sign "SLOW KIDS PLAYING" and they insist on putting it ON the street outside our house and ON the street outside their house.

Now, I'm gettin a little tired of their crap. Why are their kids playing on the street? literally ON the street (draggin 2x4's and all kinds of hazards out there). These kids really are slow. Why do they scream like wild animals when somebody goes by too fast. I'm never going too fast because I live right there and I'm turning into my driveway but anybody who doesn't live there and goes a little quickly up the hill gets yelled at. There's no way the person in the car can hear the yelling but they've resolved to yell like a bunch of idiots anyway.

Today is the day. I'm gonna do a brake-stand at the bottom of the hill so they hear me coming. I figure I can hit 35 mph by the time I get to the signs. I'll take 'em both out with the truck. I'll hang my head out the window and scream, "WHERE ARE ALL THESE SLOW KIDS ???"

*back to reality*

You know, video tape hitting the signs.

Take them down, these people are morons, they think the road belongs to them and was made for the kids to play on, get a reality check people, play on the lawn (it's safer)

I've got a story to tell, I might tell in a bit, going to eat now.

Where do you live?

File a complaint with police/city that your neighbors are putting obstructions in the street and encouraging their kids to play in the street. There should be a law against one of those somewhere.

Also explain to them that putting up such signs is actually ILLEGAL, and if they have kids that require that kind of supervision, then they can petition the local city, county, or state government for an official and regulated sign for the neighbourhood.

Also, point out that yelling at drivers is a distraction that can lead to accidents.

I don't know where you live but in California the only people that are authorized to put up road signs are city, county and Cal Trans employees. The general public isn't allowed to control traffic.

Report them. Or run over their signs and say you didn't see them because you were looking for the "slow kids".

Put up barb wire fences, and do us all a favour :banana:

They weren't none too slow when I got the old 350 chevy burnin rubber - for slow kids they sure got the heck out of the way in a hurry... (j/k...I'm actually a pretty nice guy but I think everybody has their limits)

Anyway, I hate noisy people. I'dve beat them down already. My neighbor the one day (Coincidently one day when I had a massive hangover) decided he was going to wake up at 7AM and play some basketball. Uh ah, that didn't fly with me.

The kids are fine (I think)....they mean "slow down"....but I've gotta wonder about any kid that's playing in the middle of the street with a couple of 2x4's with nails sticking out of them.

If the sign is on your lawn and wasn't put there by the city/county whatever, you should have a right to take it down but ask the city/county where you live first.

They have no right putting anything on your lawn.. You can say, I wanted to plant a tree there or something and take it down..:)

these people are putting signs in the road? who died and made them god? Roads are public highways and they cannot put obstructions esp of the child type on the road. Roads are for cars not to live out some flippin wonder years esque idelogy with kids playing in the street. Real life isnt like that. Flatten the signs and sue them for any damage it does to your car\truck if any. If that fails put a large sign in your garden reading 'SLOW PARENTS putting stupid signs in the road, be sure to hit them'.

I've heard of townships putting up such signs for "Slow Kids" (mentally challanged) But your neighbors shouldn't be able to do this so their kids can play in the street. I'd be taking it up with the township.

I wanna see a video of you hitting the signs, and then them yelling at you.

Oddly enough I actually thought about just mowing the signs under as I was coming up the street and they weren't there. Maybe somebody beat me to it, maybe the kids slowed to a crawl...I don't know. :-D



Oh, I'll point this out again while I'm thinking about it - the kids are not slow (AFAIK), the parents would like the vehicles to slow down (that's kind of what makes the whole thing funny). The parents, on the other hand, I'm not so sure about.

xshare , the parents aint very bright going on their actions, and since iq is 75% herediatry i think the signs pretty much work either way you read it. Beware moronic parents leaving signs that will cause more accidents then they stop, would be just as appropriate.
