Hi,
This question has probably been asked before as it seems quite an important point, but I couldn't find anything when searching.
I have several ip's on a dedicated server and want to specify what ip the new account i am setting up goes on. Surely there must be a way to do this without having to set it up under the WHM puts it under and then change through the DNS manager?
Thanks
Justin

You specify the IP in the new account form.
Near the bottom you should find a list box with all the available IP's.
Just select one.

Hi,
I have tried this, but the ip i want the account to go on doesnt appear under the list, the ip already has an account on, i just want to put other accounts on too. When i add an account, WHM puts it on another ip.
Any ideas?
Thanks again
Justin

When you select to use an IPless account, WHM will put all accounts on the IP specified for that purpose. Typically, this is your first IP on the box.

Is it possible to share multiple IPs on one box with a basic WHM set-up? I understand that it defaults to putting IP-less accounts on the first IP, but can you (easily.. I'm still learning) set up another IP as well to share accounts on? (And, I suppose, the supplementary question is: Assuming the websites are small, low traffic, and with little to no scripting/databases, about how many can share one IP?)

Hello
During a previous free hosting project we had 14,000 sites sharing the one IP address across various servers so there should be no problem.
You can change the IP address that the IP-less accounts are set up on but I am not sure how.
This happened by accident once when we moved some sites, so it must be possible.
Having all IP-less accounts set up on the main IP makes sense because if they stop paying and you delete the site the domain will still point to your server which can have a default advertising page on the main IP like:
http://216.171.71.201
Whenever an account is deleted it defaults to this page.
