I need to stop OutLook Express from auto opening emails and to stop opening web sites when I open emails. Any ideas?

I use OE because I have 12 emails I check...

I'm not entirely sure this is what you are looking for but...

TOOLS > OPTIONS (last menu item) > READ (tab)

uncheck both:
Mark message read after displaying for ____
and
Automatically download message when viewing in the Preview Pane

It sounds like you need to kill the preview pane...

Click View / Layout

Uncheck "Show preview pane"

I hope these help. I have been getting alot of weird emails with weird text. Like ^@%$@#$!#%$@^^#%$% and Urls... Almost like its some kinda language I dont have the font for. Some of these open a web page that I cant read either.

Probably double-byte fonts for languages like Chinese, Korean, etc...
