after reading that tera-byte post i email them asking how much bandwidth my site used so far in july and they said like 10.3 gig or something. my site admin says
Bytes Transferred 1207035980 in period covered 2001/07/11 06:23 - 2001/07/13 07:19
so that means 1.2gig in 2 days which is 600mb a day. usually when i check my site admin it says about 550mb a day. i don't understand why they said 10 gig. i am a REALLY poor high school student and right now i am getting no allowance and i don't have a job and if i have to pay for bandwidth i'm gonna go CRAZY!!! anything suggestions on what i should do? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i really wouldnt worry about it to much, i was watching the server your on closely over the last week or so because loads were very high, (your site was in the top 5 sites using the server resources this will probably cause you more problems than the bandwidth your using) you were averaging about 1500 requests per second your now down at about 550 requests, this sort of drop will be noticed in your bandwidth usage over the next few days, im not real sure why the cobalt stats appear to be reporting lower now as they have consistantly reported higher in the past, i would assume it has something to do with their most resent patches.

creepcolony - you may contribute to the topic
"bandwidth mystery" if you are here
only postive thing about tera is that if ou are using $9 account 20 gigs allowance is really good and even if 7 or 8 gigs is just doubled up you still have 3 or 4 gigs
unless
keeg or cobalt does some further crazier and inexplicable maths to increase much much farther than what is shown.
btw creep ?
whats ur site ?
do u have any idea if such site s like urs are throttled eg 1 gig per day rather than 30 gigs in a day and having to pay for extra gigs for rest of the days ..?

fudge...tera-byte said they will charge me if i go over :bawling: i don't think it's fair since i have based my bandwidth usage from my control panel and it comes out to less than 18gig a month

Looks like you need to find a job to pay for it. ;)

Ask them to limit your bandwidth usage. If you go over the limit, it will simply come up with a message that your bandwidth limit has been reached :)

And if they refuse, cancel your account just before it hits the limit :D

just wonder one thing if you get a lot of traffic you also must earn money from the advertisements, don't you?

no i get about 50¢ a day from my site :(
i think most of my bandwidth is from my forum
i am currently in summer school (no, not for failing classes, for SAT prep) so i can't get a job :(
500 members of an Ikon Board will eat up your resources pretty easily if they're active. You might want to look into a PHP message board, like VB or one of the free PHP boards (there's another recent thread around here with more suggestions).
