Im a newbie to servers and stuff. and i wanna ask...whats bandwidth??

It's how much you're allowed to transfer in a month. It's normally given in either Mb or Gig's.

Some site only count outgoing web traffic. Some count web + ftp. Some count web + ftp + mail.

bandwidth is the amount of data that can be transfered at any one time (through a connection ie Dialup-56k, DSL-Lot more, T1-a hell of a lot more, OC192-an incredible amount more)

Transfer, however is different then bandwidth. You are allowed to transfer a certin amount of data a month w/ a hosting plan for example.

if you don't know what bandwidth is and are worrying about how much you need...don't. 1gig is fine, maybe 2-3 if you have downloads on your site
