I am still experimenting with various Webmail interfaces. I haved used SquirrelMail and NeoMail for about a month now. NeoMail is very fast -- probably because it reads the mail files directly versus dealing with the IMAP server.
My squirrelmail (SM) install takes a long time to list the inbox contents or refesh them. This is with an inbox of less than 100 messages.
Any tips to speed up SM? Does anybody know where the bottleneck is?

I was just wondering the same thing.
I installed SM last night...man was it easy...but I notice after clicking to read a message it sometimes takes a day and a half to pull it up.

If it's any consideration, I've got SM 1.1.2 or such installed and it works like a charm.
I started out with version 1.06 (the last stable version), but I was having all kinds of problems with that one, including the fact that some of the plugins are written specifically for the newer development version.
I upgraded to that one and made myself a happy man :)

Huck... what are the specs of the RaQ you're using it on? I've also noticed it ain't the fastest thing in the world (and that's on a RaQ 4r with 512MB of RAM), although it's not terrible and I definitely like how easy it is to use. I've also tried IMP (although not on a RaQ) and it was slow also. Maybe all PHP e-mail applications are slow?
