Please vote and also say why in the thread underneath! Knogle 06-10-2003, 05:44 AM You should use the search tool and look for the past threads. A wealth of information can be found on which control panel's to be used, with Ensim, Plesk and cPanel being the most frequently discussed onse. Generally, Ensim and Plesk are less user friendly in terms of functions as compared to cPanel, but they are way more secure. I don't know much about H-Spher and Webmin though. HTTPbit 06-10-2003, 07:09 AM Yes, try searching this forum and you will find lots of information on this topic. By the way, my vote goes to cPanel. ;) nainil 06-10-2003, 07:43 AM You might want checking this link, which states: Hosting automation firm SWsoft (*******.com) has acquired Plesk (plesk.com) and Yippi-Yeah! E-Business GmbH (yippi-yeah.com), both automation companies, for an undisclosed amount. http://thewhir.com/marketwatch/sws060903.cfm This might help you choose better. Nainil. hostthebest 06-10-2003, 08:51 AM I like Cpanel Darktwist 06-10-2003, 09:03 AM Why did you add "Webmin" on vote poll? It is used admin-ing your box, that’s different control panel what you referring you. I like Cpanel but I know it is lack of security. UH-Matt 06-10-2003, 09:04 AM These polls are always going to have Cpanel as the winner, whats the point in posting them. 80% of hosts here use Cpanel and dont know any better - their loss! Darktwist 06-10-2003, 09:06 AM UH-Matt is Ensim LOVER!!! :D Frontpage1 06-10-2003, 09:27 AM Sounds like a confirmed case of "Cpanel Envy".... :D stephenM 06-10-2003, 09:32 AM Cpanel is by far the best. Yes, it has its bugs, its occasional security lapses but they are fixed quickly. Overall it is the most user-friendly. I really do HATE ensim, so lacking in every respect. fromage 06-10-2003, 11:06 AM Root Console CLI for life! :D UH-Matt 06-10-2003, 11:11 AM Originally posted by stephenM Cpanel is by far the best. Some hosts have fair reasons for using Cpanel, I can respect that. But by the way you speak above you actually place looks above security and that is shocking! Also, could you let me know the areas Ensim PRO lacks in? It may have 1 or 2 features less, but you say "every aspect", care to share? dynamicnet 06-10-2003, 07:27 PM Greetings: H-Sphere all the way. http://www.psoft.net/ Thank you. othellotech 06-10-2003, 10:08 PM Cobalt GUI for the dedicated servers (easy to admin from the users point of view) and Starflow/Hostflow from the overall control, billing and mangements options amusive.com 06-10-2003, 11:05 PM cPanel appears to be the most robust. inteltechs 06-10-2003, 11:49 PM Originally posted by amusive.com cPanel appears to be the most robust. customers love it :) neonlexx 06-11-2003, 06:39 AM Ensim lacks in the fact that its still using sendmail as the MTA and it also has no auto-update feature, the ladder I can live without however sendmail I cannot live with. Especially when it comes to security. MrLeN 06-11-2003, 09:03 AM I have only used cpanel and Ensim. I can say [in my humble opinion] that cPanel is heaps better. It's more User friendly than Ensim. It's prettier. It's more widely supported, and therefor easier to find help and/or advice for. It has heaps of great features - many of which Ensim doesn't have (although I haven't used Ensim PRO. Maybe that has more features). The only feature that Ensim has that cPanel doesn't is the fact that you can configure the catchall, which helps reduce spam dramatically. I can't find such an option in cPanel. MrLeN Pipson 06-11-2003, 09:44 AM cpanel for sure, customers love it... UH-Matt 06-11-2003, 09:46 AM UH-Matt watches the sheep follow each other. Make sure you keep your software updated though. - Matt amusive.com 06-11-2003, 03:14 PM If it's for your customers, I think going along with the most popular (even if it's "sheep mentality") is often the best idea. neonlexx 06-11-2003, 04:10 PM If it's for your customers, I think going along with the most popular (even if it's "sheep mentality") is often the best idea. Not if your sacrificing security. Cirtex 06-11-2003, 04:23 PM CPanel + WHM Easiest for your customers to use Ensim isnt bad, Plesk= :( Never tried SPHERE N9ne 06-11-2003, 04:24 PM I use cPanel and WHM because they're easy and feature packed. I'm a n00b when it comes to servers so I need these programs, however be warned, cPanel/WHM has many many bugs. TezHost 06-11-2003, 06:28 PM PLESK all the way. jobvdsande 06-12-2003, 06:23 AM OK, another question.... if you are going to run one huge site, on multiple servers... what is then the best option? 1 db server / admin server x number of frontend servers (depending on serverload) 1 Nameserver/loadbalancer DB caches the data one or a number times a day to the frontend servers. I looked at the site of SPHERE... it is for multiple servers? Does Cpanel support that as well? never found that option in WHM Anyway.... so.. it's not for customers, it's for a huge internet website... |
