Xtr's have been discontinued due to hardware problems, even if you find a company renting them out you prob. dont want one.

Well you know, IF you can get one, they would be rather expensive....

I think efreeservers still has them but why when they have that new dual pIII with dual scsi hd for same price

otherwise get a raq 4 for small base sites without a lot of dynamic data

That was their excuse to us! When the OS boots and raid kicks in - aparantly the second hard drive fails altogether.

Oh those XTR's has been all recalled.
We had to UPS all of them back to Sun-Cobalt which was a hassle.........

So annoying....we have to move like 2000 shared and dedicated clients off 40 XTR's onto RaQ4r's.....and boy it took like forever to do.

Whats even worse, we had to repack all those XTR's......
remove all traces of client data (privacy issues).......

If you find someone trying to dump a XTR on you, dont take it......

We experienced very strange problems with these servers, like they had a mind of their own. I lost so much faith in Cobalts after that. Having to spend 18hrs a day for 2 weeks moving clients.

Cephren, I feel your pain. How did you end up moving them? One by one, custom scripts, etc... I am curious. It was a nightmare for us just doing a few hundred sites.

EFS never had XTR's. It's always been 4r's.

We had to do them both manually and semi-manually. Pain in the ass..

Some sites had to be moved manually.........due to the scripts they were running............. fragile.........

Now that XTR's have been recalled. Its strange why Sun still hasnt sent their UPS/Fed Ex guy to pick up the servers.

The XTR's are still all stting in a room.......packed up and it has been sitting there for so long. Weve been thinking....if they dont pick them up, we might as well throw them away or auction them out. (40 of em)
