Hi guys. I'm looking for some sort of automated account management solution....like perlbill, but with a cheaper, or no, price. I just need something that can store registration information in a mysql db and send invoice emails and the like....any suggestions?

Ian

...any alternatives, just for comparison?

Although, we haven't used phpCoin, we were looking it over a few days ago as well, and it appears to be a nice, free solution.

I haven't really started looking at the files after the download, as of yet. However, I'm a bit concerned about the look of the application, and hope there is an easy way to change that, with templates, etc.....

Yeah, same here. I can't login to my cPanel from school...they block all ports other than 80 and 21, so I'll have to install in afterwards to set up the mysql databases and give it a whirl...

Templates & colors are fully customizable. :D

PHPCoin is great, currently we use it, and it's pretty simple to change up the look of it. They are also at work on some templates that will make it look better. So far it has run smoothly and I have had no problems with it. Hope that helps.

I can't figure out if it's compatible with PayPal subscriptions though.

We currently have a script in place that calculates the remaining days left, until our billing date (23rd), and prorates their signup amount, then bills them the total amount on the 23rd, and sets the subscription for the 23rd of every month.

It would be nice if phpCoin could do this, but it only speaks of manual billing, by sending a pay link to the customer.

I have been using Paypal subscriptions to handle billing and collection. They do not charge any per month fees and only charge you when you actually make a sale.

Plus Paypal is rather known worldwide and may instill confidene in potential buyers.

But its paypal. Just because its known, and free doesn't make it a quality solution. I paid $49 and a chunk of all of my profits to 2CheckOut for those reasons....

We use PayPal subscriptions as well.

However, what I was referring to, is.....

We have a custom script to handle calculations, so that the right amounts are passed to PayPal, depending on what day it is, what they ordered, etc...

I'm wondering if phpCoin can do this (take the place of our custom script). We have a few customers that refuse to get on PayPal subscription, but would rather pay via PayPal, at individual intervals, instead of having it automatically deducted.

We use to use InstaBill. They are no longer in business, but their service was great. They had absolutely no setup fee, and charged a small flat fee, and 3% for incoming transactions.

It would be nice to have another one of those around (free setup) lol

As is no- but always open for mods :)

Package is rather easy to mod and tweak where needed, and forum is good place for getting any help you would need. Currently the paylink is modified on the fly for order id and return path, so price would just be another parse.
If your script can calc the price and stuff it in a var, then all the easier.

I have been using Whois.Cart for quite a while now and love it. The next version which will be released shortly will have a recurring billing feature, as well as lots of other features.

wait, if there's no recurring billing....how does that work out for hosting?

currently Whois.Cart v2.1 is only a whois script with a shopping cart, and payment processing system, go read their website. but v2.2 is coming out shortly and will have a full billing system/customer management, Cpanel integration as well as other things.

they also only charge you 1 time for the software, lifetime updates are included.

you really need to go to saeven.net and browse through their site. also check out their forums they are willing to answer any questions you have http://www.saeven.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=5

I have also been looking at whois.cart. It looks easy to setup and use. They are adding the features most host will need to the code. And the sales/support is very good. I asked if they could add my payment processor before purchase. Support sent an email after about a week with the processor intergrated into thier cart.
