I tried to install another HDD today (slave;win ME). Using Fdisk, I tried to create a primary partition (also tried extended). Anyways, both cases made the partition named D, BUT they made it 7 MB. ITS A 20GB HDD! The Fdisk sees it as 20GB, but only lets me create another 7MB partition.

I *think* I know the problem. I am using WinME which only supports FAT32. My friends computer (where this HDD was before) was NTFS. Maybe I can't do anything to that partitiona nd theres only 7MB left. In Fdisk, it sees a partition of 20GB and it says that its NTFS, but wont let me do anything to it. Now, Is there a way to delete that? Or something? Am I even on the right track? Thanks for the help!

If you're using FAT[32] then you're not able to see an NTFS partition and therefore not able to delete it either.

So what should I do? I *need* this hard drive. Do I have to give it to a friend with NTFS to delete that partition? Is there anything that will just delete all partitions on that HDD?

Fdisk should be able to delete it than create a new partition under FAT.

Nope, it doesnt. I think its because a FAT32 system cant read/delete NTFS.

Insert the Windows 98 bootdisk(best. bootdisk. evar.) and load up FDISK with it. I know for a fact that FDISK from Win 98 bootdisk deletes NTFS partitions, just can't create them.

If that doesn't work, boot with Windows XP.

K, It worked. Didnt need bootdisk. I just had to delete the Non-DOS partition, rather than delete the primary or extended one. It had just crossed my mind that it would read it as non-dos.
