Hi,

I have a DELL DIMENSION Windows XP Home
This just started happening like few days ago.

Everytime i restart/start my computer, it loads the desktop, but the taskbar at the bottom wouldnt load at all and it stays like that for very long time, only see my wallpaper

I have to logoff using ctrl+alt+dlt and logon to my user to have it load
Its so weird :(

Someone please help, not sure how to get it working again.
This happened before too, but then everything started working again, so weird

Does it load the admin account on boot? It may be that the admin preferences were set to hide the taskbar (is it hidden or missing?), and your user account has it set to display...

Found a MS technote that may be related:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;318027

Possibly corrupted user settings, although since you can 'fix' it by relogging in, I feel it could be driver conflict. When you re-login, they are already loaded from the previous boot. Video driver??

does XP home allow file sharing for "everyone" on the network or is that only XP pro?

I believe it allows for sharing, but you're limited how many users/workstations can be connected to the network.
