Hi, I am using the sometimes dreaded Plesk, which works great for me. I want to get gzip up and running on my box. I have tried the RPM and editing the ini files and that causes Apache to fail. I have tried compiling the source and still Apache fails.
Has anyone succeeded in doing this? If so can you maybe tell me your secret? please?

Why does apache fail? Did you check you error logs for apache? Does mod_gzip get loaded? If not, is your LoadModule directive correct? Are your mod_gzip parameters correct? Try commenting them out and seeing if your module loads.

Then again, I don't use Plesk so I don't know if it's any different than just doing everything by hand. Give us more info. :)

Unsure of if we are talking about the same thing. Sent me a note off list is you are asking about mod_gzip. We recently put this on a customer's server.
