View Full Version : I;m #%#$ing tired of BURST!!!
TonyGM 07-11-2001, 07:16 PM Well to let everyone know, here's the situation...
standard hosting fee 3 months: $64.95
dedicated server fees: $100 even
extra dedicated server fees:(see below): $250/mo
extra memory chip: $75 setup, $20 per month
extra IP's: $50 per month
resold account total: $25
Accumulative total: $524.
---
1. I setup the two machines at $250 per month, which was a great deal on seans behalf.. Neither of them worked. after taking nearly 2 weeks to setup. One ran stable for about 1 week, while the other was not running properly the entire time I had it. (1 month)
2. Memory Chip: I was told repeatedly (6 weeks all in all) that they were expecting memory upgrades soon, yet they still could not manage to slip 1 into my machine. I have freinds at burst who have gotten theirs, oin less then a few days, and were not billed until the next month.
3. Extra IP's : about 10 days setup each time.
They billed me for each of these, including the two disfunctional dedicated servers, coming to a total of $900, which obviously is very hard to come up with when I cant use the machines for any purpose.
Best tip yet:
Don't use burst. If I didnt have about 40 clients on their server, I would pull out, screw balls. The only helpful employee Ive seen yet is Sean (Rosler), and Eric who I'm sure is going to argue this on burst's behalf. Unless of course you want to wait months, while you are being charged (and bent over) full throttle, to get your services, I think this is a wise choice, use another dedi provider.
thereismore 07-11-2001, 07:22 PM That's depressing. We were thinking of switching to Burst.
Who are you using instead?
JBIZ718 07-11-2001, 07:34 PM Before I add a commit, i would like to see Burst Defense on this matter.
They seem like a straight up company, but never used them so wouldnt totally know.
TonyGM 07-11-2001, 07:46 PM Well burst isnt a bad company guys.. they have just royaly pissed me off over billing for something I never used!!!

Didn't you close down Lexton.net because of your girlfriend a while ago or something?
JBIZ718 07-11-2001, 08:13 PM Well I would still want to here Bursts side of the story.
There is always 2 sides to every story..
The customer side
The company side.
Let see what they say...
Helicon 07-11-2001, 08:31 PM Hm.., what about other people who's using their dedicated server?
I was actually thinking order a server from them tonight.
Guess I need to back off on that.
Helicon
edude 07-11-2001, 08:31 PM Joe, one more post till custom title :D

TonyGM 07-11-2001, 08:33 PM As i said, eric, and sean are the only two who really do anything there anyways.. keith sometimes is a little helpful.. and Kiwi, i started just doing it for selective few freinds, cheap, just getting enough out of it to pay server fees, and upgrade a bit each month.
JeremyL 07-11-2001, 08:45 PM Burst makes some people real happy and sometimes they make people mad. I see a whole lot of threads like these on burst in these forums and I do not really think it's because they have a much higher percentage of disatisfied clients than most host (this is specultion).
I believe they get torn up in different forums so much because they do respond to posts like these. People usually don't post to the forums until they feel like they have no place else to go. The truth be told, if they didn't so vigerously monitor the boards and respond to every comment made about them, I think most of these posts would never apear since no one would expect for there to be any response. It seems that these forums have become burst's complaint department almost.
The catch is now that the trend has started, I don't see it stopping if all of the sudden burst stopped responding to these.
But then again,I could be way off base. Who knows.
JMHO
TonyGM 07-11-2001, 08:54 PM Well i really dont know.. i have NO other option, i love burst man.. they have been with me since 2 years ago.. and I have always supported them, i guess it just surprised me to find a $900 bill in my email, when I was simply expecting $300...
kwimberl 07-11-2001, 09:28 PM We like burst.net and we still have our servers there. I think they will stay too. We have had some minor glitches with billing, but they resolved them when we brought it to their attention. Did you try bringing it to their attention b4 you posted here? :-)
Everyone has glitches at some time or another especially the larger you get. So long as they fix them up satisfactorily, then no need to complain. My two cents...
thereismore 07-11-2001, 11:19 PM Well, ok...
Anybody in this thread that is running a hosting company of some sort will know full well that every company has its "pissy customers".
My god, we have people that sign up pissy. Day one. And every company is going to piss SOMEBODY off sometime. It's inevitiable.
My question is; Is Burst just like the rest of us, or are they having bigger issues like Alabanza?
BurstNET 07-12-2001, 12:14 AM TonyGM.....Ummm.....I don't get it...on one hand you say you "love burst"..and on the other hand you say "#%#$ing"...
???
We have bent over backwards to assist you in the past...
We have given you killer details when you couldn't afford our normal pricing...
When you decided to cancel your two newest small servers I specifically asked you why, and if there was anything we could help you with...
You stated something to the affect that you loved BurstNET, but couldn't afford them right now, and that you needed to spend more time with your girlfriend...
So...what's the story?
Why giving us such a hard time?
Sean R.

Tim Greer 07-12-2001, 05:27 AM Tony, I'm not sure why there was any reason to mention your financial situation or girl friend, but I too find it strange that you say you love burst, yet you posted here to complain before trying to contact them to even inquire about it to see if it was simply a mistake or oversight? Confusing.
I have removed portions of this thread as they unfortunately detract from the focus of the thread. Please proceed as per normal. Thank you for your co-operation.
TechnoHosts 07-12-2001, 09:23 AM Wow burstnet sounds real nice:bawling: It's like a soap opera:)

I'm pretty sure he talked to their billing dept.
So he didn't run here the instant he saw something wrong.
ckizer 07-12-2001, 03:10 PM I'm going to have to say i side with burst.net on this one.
Also why do burst customer feel the need to constantly drag out their problems here?
thereismore 07-12-2001, 04:07 PM Seems to be a bit of a Catch22 kind of thing going on with them.
I still like Technohost's post best :D
MattF 07-12-2001, 04:23 PM You'll often find customer will try to leave on good terms, however false, (with the company at least) for their own security. If you say 'I'm leaving because you're ****e' then they might be paranoid that the company will use their credit card, not refund monies, look for clauses in the contract to charge them more, delete their site immediately or pull some other stunt just to be an arsed. On the other hand if you sweet talk them intially then you're free to bitch about them once you're high and safe.
TonyGM 07-12-2001, 05:07 PM Sean, Dude I understand you guys are the greatest... but your billing department sucks man.. seriously.. a multi-million dollar company, and the billng department overcharges me nearly every invoice.. and the servers sean, I need to get something that is a stable monthly fee, cause' somehow ive racked up $500 MORE.. and im done bitching about it -- i am just gonna pay the bill, and try to work through whatever is putting it up that high...
But I still think you guys should take a look at billing operations.
