View Full Version : a good domain registrar that accepts paypal?
chuckt101 07-11-2001, 05:39 PM | Anybody know of a *good* domain registrar that accepts paypal payments? Doesn't have to be super cheap, but I'd prefer < $15 :) |
venomx 07-11-2001, 07:22 PM Why not get the PayPal debit card? |
TheOp 07-11-2001, 09:04 PM | I don't know of any registrars that offer paypal. I do know that stargateinc.com will accept check/money order payments if you don't have a credit card. |
rockergrrl 07-12-2001, 10:31 AM Check out; http://www.namecheap.com.
If you look for the link or even email the head, Rick, he'll accept Paypal as payment.
I transfered a domain to them and I know for sure he'll accept Paypal on transfers -- he'll probably accept them for registering domains.
NameCheap resells through Enom. |

hitspot 07-15-2001, 02:32 AM You can probably find a few by going to search paypal.com's paypal shop directory.
My hosting service (hitspot.net) offers domain registration for $15/year with free ownership transfer- payment is only accepted via a paypal automated form.
Good luck on your search

Hello
Sorry, but I think no one with a serious business will go with paypal.
So if you want a good registar , he probably has a merchant account.
If you change your mind and just want a good registrar I suggest 000domains.com .
I have more than 20 domains with them ($13.5) without even one problem.
Good, friendly and fast support.
Regards,

venomx 07-15-2001, 03:02 PM Hey whats wrong with accepting paypal? I see alot of places that do. Hey if you want to lose a few customers because you dont thats your right but why put him down for accepting it? |
frozen 02-22-2002, 12:25 PM $15 USD will get you a domain at Subhot Domain Name Registration www.subhost.com Thay accept paypal and a few other methods. I have used them over a year and have 8 domains registered there, Never had a problem. They don't have fancy control panels to manage dns or anything but they do offer dns managemnet and you can change your NS painlessly.

thewitt 02-22-2002, 01:07 PM The only real problem with accepting PayPal is that they take a much larger cut than our merchant account. It costs us more than twice as much to accept a PayPal payment as it does our standard merchant agreement.
We accept them, but it's not part of our automated process. We don't encourage PayPal, but if you prefer to pay via PayPal and use our slightly delayed, manual interface, we take them. We accept checks and money orders the say way. We'll take them, but there will be some delay in getting your domain registered.
If you want immediate domain registration, use our merchant account any pay with a major credit card. If you don't mind the delay, you may pay with a number of other methods. We have support people who will manually process your order when they are not doing something else. It's a fair use of labor on our end, and you can pay with many options on your end.
If you don't have the labor available, or you can't afford the financial hit (you are selling domains too close to cost), then PayPal or manual payment methods will probably not fit your business model.

Really... Most merchant accounts I've looked into don't compare much better than PayPal. PayPal's 2.9% + 30 cent transaction fee is more than twice as much as your merchant account (including monthly maintenence fees) and gateway for accepting orders real time? I would love to get the details on your merchant account provider. Thanks |
thewitt 02-22-2002, 02:04 PM We have a great deal with TotalPay through Merchant Express.
I'll see if I can post the details.

NexDog 02-22-2002, 02:14 PM Hey, 7 months between posts. Sometimes that search function can be a real pain in the a$$. :stickout |
TimPD 02-22-2002, 02:35 PM RegisterClub.com allows you to use PayPal. :). We use them at the moment. You should try it :). |
SeriousHost 02-22-2002, 07:38 PM I believe www.stargateinc.com accepts paypal. They only charge 8.95 for registrations too. Slow site however. |
venomx 02-22-2002, 08:14 PM Stay away from Stargate!!!
I have a few sites with them. Had no problems but on the last registration I made it never placed the domain in my account so I now have to wait for their slow support or 2 months before I can move it to a new registar because I need to change the Nameserver ASAP! I have a site that i cant run now because of them! |
SeriousHost 02-22-2002, 09:53 PM Crap. I just registered three domains with Stargate. Damnit, I hope I don't have to change anything with them. I'm actually experiencing a problem like you described with Registerfly.com. I can't change the nameservers for some bloody reason and now I can't use the domains I registered, five of them. Silly me. |
venomx 02-22-2002, 11:14 PM Update: 4 days after submitting the support request... they tell me the domaon is in my account. Guess what. Its not! |
tanakater 02-23-2002, 08:42 AM I like www.namecheap.com and www.godaddy.com

BOy was i wrong, it seems there scripts are all lets say badly presented... And half dont even work...
I have not tried there support yet, lucky enough i was smart to put all my name server info during rehistration, cause now the link that i modify my name server info form says my domain doesnt excist!
My absolutly above is only a comment about there managment i have bee using subhost.com for a while now, i thought they are alittle expensive $15 but its smuch more worth the price than having the hassles of bad design and php that doesnt work!
Look at the LAYOUT this is my direct link! Anyone can access it
