Hello

I have a small reseller account where I host few friends.
Also, I’m a member of a non profit Yoga organization (www.sahajayoga.ca) and we want to stream videos
I look around but can't find reliable host with audio/video streaming.

So I was thinking of going for a cheap dedicated web server.
How and where do I learn about web servers?
Is it difficult to manage a dedicated server?
How difficult is it to install and remove programs remotely?

Are there any other expenses beside the monthly payments?

Any advice or comments will be very much appreciated.

Thanks:)

But another computer, doesn't have to be anything big, just 200$ or so, a nice pIII 850 MHz or something, plug it into your network at home, install an OS and whatever else you may be using(apache, FTP, mail, etc etc)and learn your way around at home, no risk involved ;-) and read too

I can suggest you to get managed server. this way you will not need to pay for system administration.

But you would pay for the managed server which can be quite expensive.
If your site is fairly low usage you could probably find a host that will let you stream video. Getting a dedicated box is a little extreme from what you have described unless you plan on getting fully into the hosting end of things.
