Hello,

I am starting a free email company, to promote the sport GoPed.

My Main Question:
Where can i get a free email scripts or download, that i can set up on my site. Where users can access and sign up anywhere from the world, and login and check their email??

My Domain:
GopedMail.com

Then they will sign up with any username they want.
Example Jeff091@gopedmail.com
Then they can check it.

If anyone can help, i will really appreciate it!!

Thanks

Sorry wish i could help you with the script, but remember there are a lot of things that could go wrong with free email. How are you going to pay for the resources used, or what if someone spams with your free email accounts and you get listed?

Good luck just some things to think about.

Derrick

Ya, someone told me about spam. :(

Well, i would like to find a something under $50 or maybe free email based. I used ZZN, and never got spam.

What do you mean by Spam? People stealing email address and sending them to companies? Please explain

Well what i was thinking (for example), say i get an email account from you and send a bunch of spam and got your site on a spam list it would then block everyone else sending email from your site. Say this happens and AOL blocks you, you loose a large group of people your clients would want to send email to.

Yes, but i am offering this email to a message board that talks about GoPeds -- Message board like WHT.
Their Ages are 10-20.
I doubt they will send spam, but i will keep in mind.

Remember that there are federal laws about collecting information from those younger than 13. Research that.

To deal with spam, make sure you have a AUP that says "If your account is used to sent unsolicited email we recieve to right to terminate your account." Not that specifically, but something like it...

I believe there is a script called MailMan out there. But that may not be the name. Check HotScripts.Com and see.

Thanks,

Back in the glory days of dot coms, I worked for mail.com. In additon to providing free yahoo type email to consumers, they hosted email for many other sites. They took care of virus scans, firewalls, spam filtering etc. They hit hard times as they couldn't turn a profit, and they have been sold at least twice since I "left". But I know they still provide this service, I just don't know their fees. It might be worth checking out.

Hi, I've written an e-mail program in PHP and MySQL a bit like hivemail (not as good) but it does the job. You can login to any POP3 account in a browser and send/recieve e-mail and use attachments, its basic but if you're intrested gimme a shout on MSN or by e-mail jack_monkey55@hotmail.com

If you use hivemail, you can offer e-mail service on multiple domain addresses. So if you are John and trying to signup for:

john@domain.com

and it's taken...well you could also try (via drop menu)

john@domain2.com
john@domain3.com

etc, etc.

If you go that route, let me know. I got a really funny domain I could sell you for a modest sum. ;)

Don't use everyone.net!!

Ads galore.. Your visitors get ads when you login on a "welcome screen" then you get pop ups and then you get spam in the mailbox itself.

if you use cPanel, then you could use squirrelmail in conjunction with a script that allows people to sign up for an account.
