Hi all,
After more research I am 99.9% convinced I'll be migrating our data to dedicated servers instead of colocating. For the last week we've been going back and forth, but that is likely where we'll end up.
I am, however, a bit concerned about one potentially big shortcoming as compared to our current setup, and that is running multiple connected servers, primarily separate web servers and database servers... and we are talking all MS (IIS and SQL)...
Previously, of course, we connected via an internal LAN... now, however, we'll be hitting db servers over the Internet... obvious potential security issues (which we can address very easily), but more disconcerting is the speed degradation...
Anyone have any thoughts are real-world experience? We are no longer looking at colocating our servers, so we have made the definite decision to go dedicated. Will this adversely impact us or can we set it up in some way so that it still performs well?
Thanks!!!
