I am 14 years of age and I wanted to get into the hosting buisness. I was wondering if people had any suggestions on billing methods or cheap reseller accounts and such. As I am 14 I do not have a credit card, was wondering if there is a reliable method other than Paypal where I would not need a CC to register and such. If you can help me out by giving me tips or by getting me some deals with reseller accounts that would be great. Thanks WHT!

If you are 14, don't plan on starting a hosting company. It involves paying A LOT. Not just money, but time. You have to get support, handle billing, advertise, and do a lot of stuff. Don't be expecting to make profit soon so start off with a capital. Also, don't just do this over the summer or you'll have angry customers. During school days, how will you handle support? Say you have homewoek one day and the server goes down? This is not the right place for a 14 year old to have his own company.

Or the server goes down while you're at school.

Or you get grounded from the computer.

Or PayPal or another processor realizes you're not 18 and freezes your funding.

You've got class early the next day, so you have to be in bed early.

Starting a business is almost 24/7 starting off no matter what you go into. Webhosting requires the full 24/7 and then some. Additionally, if you don't have the upfront capital to withstand at least several months of loss, then it simply doesn't work.

Your parents or another adult could register the company and the financial side, but how anyone does this while they're in school, whether it be high school or college is beyond me.

Of course, that's not to say it's not done all the time...

You have a stable financial backing to maintain your business if something goes wrong right?

You have someone willing to take on the burden of your business if your customers suffer due to your inability right?

You're willing to put aside your own life and interests, and put those our your customer base ahead of your own right?

You're able to maintain a constant level of communication with your customers in a solid effort to support them right?

You're aware that you may hold the success or failure of 'real life' businesses with real employee's, in your hand, that may end up out of business because of your actions right?

No offense, but if you are not of an age where you can be held legally responsible for the actions of a business you should not be starting one up.

all said is very true, but he could get a small reseller account and just setup a couple of sites for friends, that way he would start to get a hang of some of the aspects at an early age.
