Which backbone do you think is better and why? I have heard both are at about the same price range. Thanks, Kyle

Thanks, Kyle IGobyTerry 06-04-2003, 01:58 PM Both are decent. It depends on area. If XO does end up buying out Global crossing, it'll really add to their network. tazzy 06-04-2003, 02:00 PM Depends where the majority of your traffic is coming from and what happends with this GC/XO merger. They are both good but MFN has a larger backbone. KyleLC23 06-04-2003, 02:00 PM Thanks for the reply inogenius. If you had to only pick one though, which would you pick? tazzy 06-04-2003, 02:13 PM Originally posted by KyleLC23 If you had to only pick one though, which would you pick? Both, or which one I could get for the best price. :) robinbalen 06-04-2003, 02:20 PM If I had to pick one, I'd pick MFN. nog 06-04-2003, 02:39 PM Defenitely MFN, I love it. BiGWill 06-04-2003, 02:39 PM i'd pick MFN over XO anytime, as they've really got the bigger/better Backbone! which also reaches Europe and Asia. BobFarmer 06-04-2003, 03:43 PM MFN. Mfjp 06-04-2003, 04:48 PM No competition. I have had better ping and more direct connectivity using MFN. Try Visualroute from around US and the world and you'll know. But I would have to admit XO is very good in some area. s.h.a.zz.y 06-04-2003, 04:56 PM Id say MFN, due to its access points in Europe and Asia to... -Shazad KyleLC23 06-04-2003, 06:59 PM They are both around 50 dollars per meg if I have heard right? Also, I have heard XO is great for gaming? Are there any other backbones that compare or are in the same group as MFN and XO? Thanks, Kyle IGobyTerry 06-04-2003, 07:24 PM MCI/UUNet, TimeWarner, Verizon... there are others too. KyleLC23 06-04-2003, 08:02 PM Sorry about that, I meant compare in the same group as preformance for the price of 50Mbps you can get with XO and MFN. Thanks, Kyle Dragoon 06-04-2003, 10:10 PM Originally posted by inogenius MCI/UUNet, TimeWarner, Verizon... there are others too. Verizon doesn't own a backbone. They are still buying transit from Genuity (now Level3). Verizon had an option to re-acquire Genuity (AS1) but decided against it. Level3 bought Genuity after they filed for bankruptcy. Currently, Qwest is the only RBOC that owns and operates a nationwide backbone. However, as I understand it, SBC is currently in the process of building out their own. As it stands now SBC buys transit from Sprint. hostingsp 06-04-2003, 10:44 PM If XO get's Globalcrossing... it will improve major global access (UK - Latin America - Japan - and USA) will improve access true major US city's... as GCrossing has a great backbone true major city's MFN ... Hmmmm can't really say... much UltdNetworks 06-04-2003, 10:45 PM XO is not great for gaming, Well the xo connections i've seen used as gaming connections are hugely lagged with huge 200-300 spikes every few minutes. Just my experience, i could be wrong? |
