No an IDE can't... I'd suggest a SCSI raid for that transfer rate or load balance between a couple of servers with something like a foundry server iron if you can.

IDE is weak for a $1k/mo server.

Do you accept adult sites? Basically, those are the only sites (usually) that will be doing that kind of transfer.

We'll be offering SCSI options in about a week, also expect some larger
server configurations. We do allow legal content.

Sam every month you keep talking about how you networks going to get better and better, but all weve ever heard is complaints, how about you come in here and advertise when your networks finally done being upgraded, in addition an IDE server can not pull that much traffic, if you had any knowledge of the hardware your selling you owuld know that.

Hello,
I keep posting good news about our network as it improves yes. I do think that it is presently one of the fastest cobalt hosting networks available. Please feel free to run ping/traceroute test our throughput test from anywhere. (I suggest http://www.traceroute.org) compare us to some of our competitors. We did have problems in the past with provisoining, promises were made to us by our providers that were not kept. However that is in the past. If I have offended anyone by my posts or you believe them to be in-apropriate for this forum I apologize, however this is an advertisment section and I just wanted to let people know that we were doing something new.

Sam

Also note,
Current throughput from cobalt racks core to ftp.uu.net 440K, to ftp.sunet.se 280K, average ping time from 1 hop up to any cobalt in our facility is 7ms. I think that is good myself.

Note also present best time is 5ms and worst time is 19ms

Also here is a link from the same physical ethernet that our customers are
on.
http://www.cobaltrack.com/cgi-bin/nph-traceroute.cgi

Beautiful time in my opinion (<3ms up most of the time)
Sam

I don't think it's apropriate for the advertising forum but I would like to see a thread somewhere where people with good connections compare traceroute/ping times of hosts. And please re-check our throughput after last month. I'm confident we'll out perform most of our competition 95% of the time.
On a side Note we have a real-audio server that is a single PII800 with an old 5400RPM 8.4 Gig segate drive in it that serves about 300 streams at peak demand and does nearly that traffic level. Also we have customers with game servers generating near that amount of traffic on an IDE platform.
This price with the ide configuration is the "bottom end" plan. We plan on allowing customers to upgrade there servers by adding extra hardware with a one time fee to cover the cost of the equipment/setup without changeing the monthly.

As to adult sites we don't say no and any customer signed up now will be grandfathered. However we will probably ammend our AUP to affect new customers so as NOT to allow adult sites. We had considered it as a source of revenue however I don't think that we can accept them with a clear conscience. If there is a site in question that you'd like us to check please ask BEFORE purchaseing or even considering our hosting options. This issue has recieved a lot of attention inside of cobalt rack.
