Just finished a site for a client who happens to be a major football (soccer to you) team in Europe. We have some video clips (avi's, not streaming) with highlights from the games that visitors can download and boy, do they ever!!!

We need to move the videos to another server because it is killing our line, we only have a T1. We are doing a couple of gig daily. And when the season starts it may increase. The rest of the site will remain at our server.

So we are looking for 300MB & 60Gig to start with. Shared space should be ok, we have no cgi's or anything else which may strain the server. We just need a good size pipe. And we also need dedicated ip.

Also please quote price per gig for extra traffic.

You can post here or pm.

Thx:cartman:

PS If you can also disclose who you host with (ie Alabanza, DI, etc) it would be appreciated.

I dont know anywhere you will be able to find 60gb transfer on a shared environment!
You should probably post this in the web adverts/offer forum but also you should look into getting your own dedicated server!

The most bandwidth I could find with a shared hosting package was 50GBs from DIDS: http://www.dids.com/services/webhosting/highend.php

At $399/month, you'd be much better off getting a dedicated server.

Hmm... maybe 60 gig is a bit much for shared, but we don't have any unix people (we're one of billy's shops ) to manage a dedicated box.

Besides, we'll pay for the bandwidth, what does a gig go for, $2, $3? Big deal. Much cheaper than a unix person.

And don't forget, serving files is not demanding on the server.

Worldzonepro.com will later this month be offering a 156 GB plan for $128 monthly (sorry, there is no 60 GB plan). Its hosted at VDI.

Its hosted at VDI.

Didn't VDI have a bunch of problems not too long ago?

I read they lost a bunch of customers. Are they up now?

VDI are up now. A few months ago bandwidth demand outgrew its capacity, and so all the hosts it serviced crawled to a halt. They then got in two OC-3 lines, but many hosts had already left it by then.

Worldzone too is now planning to leave VDI in the next few weeks.

Although the sign-up form for the 156 GB plan isn't up, if you want one, you have to email alycia@worldzone.net and ask for it to be manually setup for you.

Thank you all very much for your responces and emails.

I received offers from $75 for shared space to $230 for a dedicated box, all with 60 gig or better transfer, much better than what I had expected.

Of course, this is a client site and reliability and good service is more important than saving a few bucks, so now I have to go through the various offers and see who's good and who's best.

Thanks again

There are also win200/nt dedicated servers you can get! You are not limited to *nix as a server.
