I`m re-naming my hosting packages. But can`t make up my mind as to which names are better for each package. Out of the below two...which name combo is better:

Budget($9.95),Basic($12.95),Bronze($15.95),Silver($25.95),Gold($34.95)

Budget($9.95),Standard($12.95),Bronze($15.95),Silver($25.95), Gold($34.95)

I`m trying to "hypnotize" customers into signing up for the $12.95/month package instead of the cheapest one. So is the name "Basic" better or "standard" if i want to lure the customer into signing up for that package?

Maybe i should just re-name my cheapest package as "cheap-skate" so the customer will feel ashamed and embarrassed and go for the next package? Has anyone ever tried this method?

I think if you want them to sign up "Standard" is a better name because it sounds like that is what everybody gets.

"cheap-skate" so the customer will feel ashamed and embarrassed and go for the next package

LOL I don't think thats a good idea :)

I'd get rid of the name Budget and I don't like Basic or Standard really, you don't have much of a theme. I just picked a theme that went with my site (forged stuff) and named mine accordingly. You should do something like this, too!

I don`t know, i think "cheap-skate" is growing on me :D

Actually i found my best name combo. I really like these package names:

Budget, Standard, Executive, Corporate, Supreme

More fancy sounding names. Makes packages look better, or maybe i`m just crazy.

Just crazy :D

The customer will pick for what they need plus a little bit extra.

The psychology should be in your Packages structures and not only in the wording itself.

Call the Budget one Basic, and use Standard for the next level up. :)

Challenged($9.95),Normal($12.95),Graduate($15.95),Associate($25.95),Masters($34.95)

Hahaha! Very funny. What we have is a little bit different. We have Bishop, Duke, Knight, Queen, King. We are even planning to put up a Pawn account for students. :)

Well, we are Castlemelody. That should fit well.

Take care everyone!

My thoughts also. If you want your customer to upgrade to the next level then make the next level more attractive. Offer more email for example, or more bandwidth or space. Make it worth the customers money to move up, don't try to trick them into it by a name.

I'm amazed at the number of people that haven't been able to figure out that concept yet.
