Which do you think is best or are they all pretty much the same? okihost 06-03-2003, 01:55 PM I am pretty sure Geotrust certs are compatible with more browsers than Comodo which is what we use. Sticks 06-03-2003, 02:41 PM I never used Comodo but Geotrust. Geotrust seems to be a better choice. Melitaweb 06-03-2003, 02:42 PM We use both and have had no problems with either. You can get a geotrust certificate quickly from rackshack for $39 - so this gets our recommendation purely for price. dbbrock1 06-03-2003, 02:52 PM Originally posted by Melitaweb We use both and have had no problems with either. I would go geotrust just because their order form is the coolest thing on the internet. SHT 06-03-2003, 03:04 PM Geotrust; affordable and ever expanding. Jeremy Choppy 06-03-2003, 08:34 PM Does rackshack still charge that 8% tax to all clients or? We use Comodo instant ssl! Regards Phillip BisonSt 06-03-2003, 10:26 PM Originally posted by Choppy Does rackshack still charge that 8% tax to all clients or? Yes, but even with the tax you're geting a good certificate at a good price with easy setup. I guess you can tell I'm partial to the Geotrust certs from Rackshack. Synthetic 06-03-2003, 10:49 PM I have a SSL certificate with Comodo and haven't had any issues with them thus far. However, I couldn't really tell you which company is better, all I can say is that I'm satisfied with my purchase and have no regrets. canfone 06-06-2003, 02:58 AM I think you should go for the GeoTrust... There is something weird with Comodo and IE. 5.0 and 5.01 ... also their 3 yr cert. isn't vaild for 3 years for some reason... I just got a cert for $35 from freessl.com --- I although I haven't got mysite going yet... they have good tech support... ----------------- http://ListBay.ca/host host@listbay.ca ESJ 06-06-2003, 07:26 AM To purchase an SSL cert from Rack Shack site, do i need to be a member of rackshack for this $39 offer to be avaliable to me? paulgt 06-06-2003, 07:27 AM Originally posted by canfone I think you should go for the GeoTrust... BisonSt 06-06-2003, 09:39 AM Originally posted by ESJ To purchase an SSL cert from Rack Shack site, do i need to be a member of rackshack for this $39 offer to be avaliable to me? No, I purchased one and I'm at The Planet not Rackshack. Romanticus 06-07-2003, 02:38 AM Please, tell me why SSL certificeted need? Why I should to buy it? adland 06-07-2003, 12:39 PM SSL is needed for secure ecommerce transactions. Most people will not give you their credit card info if they do not see https: or lock icon. OneStopHost 06-08-2003, 04:01 PM GeoTrust SSL from Rackshack simply because it's so cheap and GeoTrust is more compatible than any other I've ever seen... ESJ 06-08-2003, 08:13 PM Although you can buy the geotrust ssl at rackshack for $39, does that mean when it comes time to renew you gotta pay up the regular $119 renewal fee? spietreser 06-09-2003, 05:03 PM An SSL certificate for $39 ?? Yikes... I recently bought a Verisign SSL certificate for about $950. Why is there such a huge price difference? TIA ESJ 06-09-2003, 09:29 PM You pay for the name and the insurance that comes with it. Its like 250K or something (SH)Saeed 06-10-2003, 03:29 AM Originally posted by ESJ Although you can buy the geotrust ssl at rackshack for $39, does that mean when it comes time to renew you gotta pay up the regular $119 renewal fee? This is a quote from the FAQ page at RackShack... What will you charge for QuickSSL next year? QuickSSL certificates are provided as a low-cost alternative to traditional, expensive SSL certificates, and GeoTrust intends to continue that practice in the future. Choppy 06-10-2003, 06:11 PM So its going to maybe be cheap but not as cheap as before? ;) Regards Phillip canfone 06-10-2003, 08:01 PM Originally posted by canfone I think you should go for the GeoTrust... Take a look at my site to see how the certificate works: https://securelogohosting.com There are no certificate error messages or anything... Just so people know, if you need secure hosting, you must have a dedicated IP address for the server, this usually involves making your own name servers ... extra costs.. but could be worth it. InternetPEI 06-14-2003, 01:52 PM can users use the same SSL cert? Or do I need to put them on seperate ips? I dont have any users yet requesting them, but just in case it comes up :D Thanks BisonSt 06-14-2003, 02:42 PM Each user will need to have his/her own dedicated IP and own SSL certificate. InternetPEI 06-14-2003, 02:44 PM Thank you Rochen 06-15-2003, 11:41 AM I would go with GeoTrust, purely because Comodo send SPAM. |
