MCHost-Marc 07-10-2001, 02:46 PM It seems to me that the whole NAC.net Network went doen a few minutes ago  EKR 07-10-2001, 02:53 PM Same here.... can't get to site5.com, pwebtech.com, nac.net, anything. Hope it's not long before the network goes back up. Craig 07-10-2001, 02:56 PM i hope its solved soon :[ i just got a server at this place :[ kunal 07-10-2001, 03:02 PM its not down any more :) reason 07-10-2001, 03:05 PM still is where I'm checking from kunal 07-10-2001, 03:06 PM something funny i just noticed.. when you do a trace for nac.net.. it comes up to mail.nac.net.. isnt that odd? reason 07-10-2001, 03:06 PM Now it is.......thank frig.. Craig 07-10-2001, 03:08 PM yay its back up. I wonder what caused it. How long was it down for? jayglate 07-10-2001, 03:13 PM We were down for about 10min, looking into the reason. jayglate 07-10-2001, 03:15 PM It looks like one of the core switches freaked, had to be rebooted they are looking into the issue now and possibily replacing a card or two. jayglate 07-10-2001, 03:22 PM Ok, so we are down to 99.999% uptime instead of 100%. Dang..!!!:D Nicholas Brown 07-10-2001, 03:37 PM Originally posted by jayglate Ok, so we are down to 99.999% uptime instead of 100%. Dang..!!!:D hah hah :p ckizer 07-10-2001, 06:11 PM damn it, there goes my uptime from 100% arrg...:D jayglate 07-10-2001, 06:29 PM <<MOD NOTE: I don't know what else it could have been.>> Not sure if this is advertising, sorry if it is.:D JBIZ718 07-10-2001, 06:57 PM Well since that is almost impossible It will be interesting to see how you pull this one off. Thats about the same as offering unlimited transfer. Unless you are giving CDN services with every account, you would have to mirror about every server, which i dont see being done... Even know we maintain 99.99% uptime all the time, there are things that happen, and a perfect example of that was what happened today at NAC, somethings are just out of peoples hands... I mean computers fail, NAC is a solid facility, but things break and crash its the nature of the beast.... Good Luck Joe jayglate 07-10-2001, 07:03 PM <<EDIT (due to other post)>> JBIZ718 07-10-2001, 07:04 PM In your SLA will you gaurentee 100% uptime. You do realize if you do, and you go down for 1 minute, you breached contract unless terms are stated ... Joe jayglate 07-10-2001, 07:08 PM Yes.. cbaker17 07-10-2001, 07:11 PM Even if they do go down, they will likly prorate it, so if even if they go down for 1 minute and offer a 100% sla it wont hurt them as all they will have to do is pay for that one minute of outage. Everyone could guerentee a 100% uptime, if its prorated it is really just a marketing scheme. JBIZ718 07-10-2001, 07:13 PM Good Point Charles DHWWnet 07-10-2001, 10:29 PM Originally posted by cbaker17 Even if they do go down, they will likly prorate it, so if even if they go down for 1 minute and offer a 100% sla it wont hurt them as all they will have to do is pay for that one minute of outage. Everyone could guerentee a 100% uptime, if its prorated it is really just a marketing scheme. this got me thinking...hm.. we currently guarantee a 99% uptime, although our uptime is around 99.5% but we just like to be on the safe side. Nways, what Charles said is a really good idea , we can now offer 100% uptime and if the network goes down , we'll just do a prorated refund instead of giving them one month of free hosting. Thanx charles :P cbaker17 07-10-2001, 11:21 PM No problem :) Planet Z 07-10-2001, 11:35 PM Most reputable places that promise 100% uptime will do more than a prorated refund. I mean, anyone can offer a prorated refund for downtime and not really have to worry. |
