hostbox 06-02-2003, 06:50 PM Hello, i want to put my domain mtxhosting.net to my Personal Server (why?, because i want to test :D ) , i have Webmin Installed and i speak spanish... If you could tell me how to create my own ns1.mtxhosting.net and ns2.mtxhosting.net i Would apreciatted a lot... (I have 2 Ipīs )
I Would prefer if you can explain what i have to do in Webmin... Thanks... ;)
Samuel 06-02-2003, 06:56 PM You'll need a DNS server running locally that will answer for the name servers.
You'll need to register your hostnames with your registrar, with those two ips. (Also change the domain's DNS to those nameservers)
Give it a couple days, and then DNS will start to be sent to your nameservers.
Google for Simple DNS for your local name server.
Bind for linux.

Most of what you want to do is available through google.
But, you're willing to learn so I say go for it, start chewing on that OS, before long you'll have it figured out. First get your firewall locally ready for all those DNS packet coming your way, which means you'll want to make sure your hostnames at your registrar are working.

Samuel 06-03-2003, 07:05 PM Did you go with Simple DNS, or a linux solution?
I've heard simple DNS is a very easy and powerful application, although not free, its worth it. "Quotes from customers)

Nope, maybe because Bill Gates wants that the User's pay for all Software?:D
Trimax 07-27-2003, 11:36 AM Check this out. It teaches you how to setup your nameservers in webmin...

Also, you will need to register your name servers after that.
