joasis 06-02-2003, 07:27 AM Guys ,
Stay away from Globaat ! It is the worst hosting company on the Internet. Not only they will NOT refund you order but they will keep charging you, again and again. You've been warned !!! I'm sure this company is going to get sued soon, probably a class action lawsuit. There's no way these evil company can stay in business. NO WAY !!! Never do business with them.

Their focus is on selling you a package.
This is it! They do everything to sell you a package. Then they will never take care of you anymore. That's the way they do business. EVIL !!!!!!!!!

ice53ltd 06-02-2003, 07:42 AM 50Gb of transfer for $7.50 should have set a few alarm bells ringing in your mind...
NickRac 06-02-2003, 08:17 AM haha yea for real, I mean come on, it gets to a point where a "sweet deal" is just not i.e. 50 gigs of transfer for that ammount of money, wake up people ;-)
joasis 06-02-2003, 08:18 AM I did not order this $7.50 plan.
Of course, 50 GB of transfer $7.50 a month is a TOTAL rip off. Instead I ordered their developer plan, thinking I would get a good deal. I paid $39.95 set up fee + $19.95 per month. Total = $59.95. BEFORE the end of 15 day tria I asked for a REFUND because their customers service is totally lame. I never heard from them. Then they UPGRADED my account and CHARGED me $29.95. I lost $90 with them.
And they will NOT refund though I called them several times. I've been with several companies but that one is definitely the WORST.
Tell your friends about it, STAY AWAY rom G l o b a t !!! This one is going to go down, mark my word.

DarktidesNET 06-02-2003, 08:29 AM Hello,
Sorry to hear about your loss. Did you try calling your credit card company and explaining?
Better luck next time.
ice53ltd 06-02-2003, 08:30 AM Instead of telling my friends about what companies to stay away from I tell them what to look for and what to avoid in a company.
Don't just avoid ****** since there are just way too many companies making offers like that who either cannot provide what they offer or who can't provide an acceptable level of service at the price they charge. If you tried every 'too good to be true' host in this industry you'll probably be left bankrupt.
I'm not sure what their developer plan included (it doesnt seem to be listed on the site anymore). Depending on your requirements, that $90 that you lost would have given you several months of top quality service from some of the more respected hosts on this forum.
Its a tough lesson and I really hope you can get your money back.
DangerMouse 06-02-2003, 12:28 PM Not to mention the Spam that this host sends out.
I believe spamming is also the reason they are banned from here.
ArtieFishill 06-02-2003, 02:29 PM Not to mention, setup fees are lame...it's free money...takes all of 30 seconds to set up an account if you do it manually, heck, using a script you can set up dozens in seconds. NEVER pay a setup fee....
sprintserve 06-02-2003, 02:40 PM Setup fees are fine, if the clients are fine. But I have to agree their prices are a bit surreal. Contact your bank for a chargeback if they still refuse to refund.
write them an email nicely explaining that you do not wish to continue, and that you didn't order the upgrade, and that you really do not wish to order a charge back against them. I think that will send a message across.
However remember charge back should be an option of the last alternative.

I have to disagree. Sure, it doesn't take very long to setup a client. However, we've found that the initial amount of support required by a customer is fairly high as they become accustomed to a hosts particular control panel and processes.
It is unfair to factor this into the monthly cost because for most customers, the amount of support they require decreases after the first 1-2 weeks.
There's also the cost of inital customer care. Phoning them up, finding out how they're doing and making sure they know that you're there to help them.
All of that costs money, maybe not for budget hosts but for hosts that want to provide a personal level of service.

do you really do that!!!!:eek2:
my god, i've never come across a hosting company that rings you up to see how it's going!!
sprintserve 06-02-2003, 03:08 PM We don't call, but we message them, especially if they have a lot of problems in the setup.
Mark_TVI 06-02-2003, 03:12 PM We send everyone an email commenting on their site somewhere between a week or two after they sign up. That's something I personally look at, I like to see what they have been working on. It's obviously important enough to them to get web hosting for it so it's important enough for me to take a couple minutes and have a look and drop them a note about it...

I won't comment on what we ourselves do since that'd be advertising/promoting ;)
I am just saying that hosts that charge more than what hosts on this forum do are not always ripping customers off.
Whenever I see something that looks expensive I always ask what more I get for the extra money. That's REAL value, not the end price but what you get for the price.
A host is either 'ok' or 'bad' based on how reliable their infrastructure is. How 'good' they are is almost always defined by the level of customer care they provide.
