I am sorry, I just need to vent. My business partner and I just walked thru our latest Alabanza bill.

These guys are squeezing the life out of us.... I knew the $1 per Control Panel was going to be a problem, but....

I just did the math and our average monthly bill per server is $1200!!!!!

What the ****!!!

$1200 per server. Can you even imagine paying this much per server?

Granted, we are not load balancing our machines like we should, but My God, these guys are killing us on upcharges; CP upcharges, transfer upcharges, space upcharges....Give me a F****** Break....

It seems like the more accounts we sell, the more we become "Alabanza Slaves"....

I ask you all; Is there a Better Way? We rely very heavily on the Crapabanza automation. Is it worth it???

Going to cry myself to sleep, but will check in when I get up...

Thanks for listening,

Why not use bandwith usage softwares like musita.. I don't know what would work with crapabanza but you should install a software which tells you the bandwith you have used..

Just my 0.50 :stickout :D

Have you ever heard of Cpanel ?
lose the Alabanza server and get a new one at BurstNET http://burst.net/servers

I will join you with a bottle and a hanky.

Same boat here, but I have a few things in the works.

Actually, Crapa has added new reporting for bandwidth and disk usage that isn't too bad.

Thanks, guys. I have heard of Cpanel. But it doesn't give me the automated account set up and billing, right?

Cpanel doesn't, but if you get your server(s) from Site5, you will be able to use a billing system that Matt from Site5 created called BillAdmin (www.billadmin.com).

Combining Cpanel and Billadmin has worked well for us. We have moved quite a few of our customers from Alabanza servers to cpanel, and they are happy with Cpanel, and we are happy with BillAdmin.

You should have seen our Alabanza bills
But then we had one of their higher priced servers which was $1150/month BEFORE control panel fees...

Julie, thanks for the info. I have read good things about Site5 here and after searching the posts here at WHT have found there are several good billing systems out there. The billing was my biggest concern....

Also elated to hear that you are and your customers are happy with Cpanel / Billadmin solution. That is exactly the model my partner and I discussed today. We are definitely getting out of the Alabanza game.

Did you move your customers off manually?

Thanks,

Andy

$1200 per month per server  You must be almost running at a loss?

No, with our plan structure we can get 250 - 300 on a server, so we are making money. We just are sick of giving most of it to Alabanza.

Yes, and we only moved a few at a time. We let our customers know it was an option, and at their request we would move them.

That's how we envisioned doing it. Give em the option. Some just won't care either way...

Hey elijah,

Why do you like Burst?

They seem to be on shaky ground here.

Well..
Actually $1,200 is a normal price for dedicated servers..
Most servers are around $750-800 , Its just that theres so much competitiveness on boards/resources that drove some server prices down to $79 :)
