A couple of days ago I recieved an e-mail from sun saying that they had launched Java Developer Kit v1.3 package from http://www.cobalt.com/java so I installed it which has become a constant pain in the a**

The problem is that everything is working fine but when I add a new virtual site or a user something happens to the web server and all my websites stop loading. The error that internet explorer gives is Connection Refused (146), sometimes its (111). Then when I reboot the Raq the webserver starts working again.

I tried disabling it from the instructions in the manual but when I disable it the web server stops working and when I check
/etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd status
it only shows 4 or 5 ids when there are more than 8 when its running normally.

I think that this java package is conflicting with something I have already installed but beyond that I don't have a clue.

Has anyone else had this sort of problem?

We had the same issue. Every other day the RAQ4 we installed it on would have the web server stop. We needed to restart it to get the sites back up and running. This happened about three times before we disabled the JSP install. It hasn't happened since.

Also, we found that the JSP install was resource intensive. It constantly used 200 MB's of RAM. From experience, we have found you should never uninstall anything from a RAQ unless Cobalt provides a way.

Could you please tell how you disabled the JSP? If you followed the instructions on the last page of Java_Dev_Kit_Doc_v1.3 then I have already tried it but when I disable the Tomcat engine the web server stops working completely and rebooting even does'nt help.

Also I have the following packages installed. Do you think they have something to do with it?

ClasspathX_Servlet-1.1-1
ApacheJServ-1.1-1
JRE-1.2.2-1

We did. It worked for us. By the sounds of it, thank god. I would ask your colo guys to see what Cobalt has to say. I am sure it is something they have seen before as we both had the same issue.
