I've emailed support (no response in 3 days), and read the docs, but how do you allow new users to set up their own accounts? I can't find any built-in method that allows this.
Do resellers have to manually creating hosting accounts once someone has signed up through your payment gateway?

As far as allowing resellers to instantly create accounts - this is easy and should be fairly straightforward (so I'm going to assume this is not what you meant). If you're talking about allowing a customer to go to a site, click "purchase web hosting", pay, and then have the account get setup automatically... Command Matrix does not support this out of the box.
There was talk about an API coming out (don't know if it's come out yet), but once this is done, you can create a script that will create the accounts for you. You could also try to have one of the popular billing products (such as modernbill) integrate command matrix into their billing programs. Might be hard to convince them they need to do it though :D

So do you know the best way to do it? I'm thinking just make a page with the different hosting plans, make the payment plans with your gateway, then just enter it manually to create it and send them an email once it's all set up... I'm not sure if people would like this approach but first-timers or patient people might not mind (I know I like my account ready to use within 30 seconds :)
Actually it's a little better doing it manually for me anyway, it's just a 1U box that I'm selling off extra bandwidth from. So if I can get 20 clients I'm happy.

Don't offer instant signup, all you will get is a **** load of grief and a load of chargebacks . . .

Yah I never even thought of that.... at least doing it manually you have a better mental record of who's coming and going.
