View Full Version : Finally a good dedicated provider !

Some of you know I had a bad experience with another dedicated server provider and I was quite vocal about it . Unfortunately most people are not near as vocal about good experiences . This message is an exception .
I signed up with Venturesonline.com about three weeks ago and finally have the server all setup the way I want it and am placing customers on it .
To say it has been a very pleasant experience is really an understatement . These guys setup my server properly on the first try , they set it up two days earlier than quoted , they have responded to support requests with both world class timing and quality of answers . They appear to be well staffed , knowledgable and friendly . Uptime and connectivity have been great so far (only three weeks) . What else would anybody want from a dedicated provider ?

So I'm being vocal about a good host !

Anybody else care to share thier praises for thier dedicated providers ?

Let us know in a year or so how you find your knew server provider...52 weeks will give a better indication than just 3. ;)

This is true but in having my third ded server with my third provider VO is far and away the best , the first two providers showed thier colors in the first week and silly me kept thinkign it would get better or it was just start-up problems ......... Unfortunately that first week was indicative of the the providers standard operating procedures . If my first three weeks are indicative of VO 's SOP then I'm a very happy customer .

You are right though , time will tell ..................:)

I can ring in with some good words about Pegasus (pwebtech.com). I've held off to make sure that this doesn't wind up being a repeat of the last posts I made.

However, I have to say that Jay and crew have proven themselves worthy of a good word and pat on the back. The servers we've gotten from them are big, speedy, beefy machines, they have exceptional support, and are definitely willing to go out of their way to lend a hand. We've been working with Jay directly on an issue that occurred in the wee hours of this morning, and I have to say that having 24/7 coverage and a direct connection to the NOC through Jay is a pretty handy thing to have (the fact that he seems to sleep as little as I do helps).

Most importantly: communication, communication, communication. There have been no dropped balls, constant updates on things we've asked for, and an overall responsiveness that meets our very stringent requirements. We now have four boxes with Pegasus, and will continue to add more through them, for as long as they care to have us as customers.

Well i have to give alot of credit to http://www.intenseinfo.com, for showing me the ways through, always being there to help me when needed.

As many of you know, Jbiz718 (from intenseinfo.com), posts on this forum, i have had a great chance to know him more, he has shown me alot of the aspects to webhosting i never knew, he spent hours with me helping me out setting up modules etc... I was worried like most people are when they first sign up for a new dedicated provider, but he gave me test space where i can test how the network runs etc... EVEN before i signed up he explained alot to me about dedicated servers and how they should be run. When i signed up he spent even longer showing me how to properly use ensim (www.ensim.com) as i had no experience what so ever with ensim.

All i can say is, i have NEVER been with a better provider then http://www.intenseinfo.com, i had been searching nearly everywhere before hand.

* Top notch technical support, always there for you!
* No network problems so far.

http://www.intenseinfo.com

I highly reccomend them for your dedicated needs.

10/10.

And thank you intenseinfo.com & jbiz718 for all your help.

Kindest Regards,
HostEXP

We've had a fantastic experience with Pegasus as well. We have never come across a crew so dedicated to their clients as Jay and his team, who go all out and respond to situations when needed. When they make promises, they actually do fulfill them, allowing us to spend even more time with our clients and building our business.

What we've found is that they don't slack after they have you as a client (which is good) and consistently provide the level of support that we expect (and we're probably one of their most demanding clients). Even as I type, Jay's keeping us posted via AIM regarding a new box that's being setup right this very minute. It's like having a relationship manager at a bank, where you feel you get that special treatment.

For those of you looking for a dedicated provider who provides true 24/7 support, excellent network connectivity and honest straightforward people who care about and communicate with their clients, we highly recommend Pegasus Web Techologies (http://www.pwebtech.com). Top notch.

I too have had a great all around experience at Pegasus (http://www.pwebtech.com/).

First off, sales were good, with Ed answering my questions sometimes within minutes -- and then finally putting together a very nice package.

After ordering a highly customized server -- specifically requesting RedHat 7.1 -- it was up within a few days. I was always kept notified of the status of things, which was very reassuring.

RH 7.1 was very temperamental at first, causing random crashes, but Jay kept a close eye on it and got everything straightened out. This box been running without a glitch now for quite a while.

The connectivity at nac.net is absolutely amazing, and certainly beats any other data center I've dealt with in the past.

After leaving Verio a few months ago and having dealt many other dedicated server and colocation facilities, it's quite a relief to be dealing with a company who's support and reliability you can trust -- at the right price.

I have a box at VO and everything has been running smoothly for me so far. Support has been great although I do wish they would help install some simple scripts for me without charging. It seems like everything has a price these days.

One more Vote for Pegasus. They deserve it, Jay and Co. have been very helpful and supportive.
They earned my business from the first day, and continue earning every day.

Thanks Guys

Yeesh, maybe I'm just unlucky. I'm currently with Interland.net, Catalog.com, and been waiting well over a month for my site5.com server to be finished. I can't really comment on site5 yet except that my order went through on June 6th and it's now July 17th and it's still not up. I have received some discounts for the delay though. Interland and Catalog I suggest staying far away from though, each have their own reasons which are too many to recall.

Ventures Online http://www.venturesonline.com

The funniest thing: the last three weeks I searched one for a new server and one of the three companies I seriously took into consideration didn't answer one of my four emails begging for details (s...5.com). Very strange.

Welp

I have had good experiences with the following providers:

1. Dialtoneinternet (very fast, AWESOME tech support, coudlnt' ask for anythign better)

2. WeinBar. Very fast and reliable connection, never goes down, my uptime there is great, the only problem is their support isnt that great anymore... very slow. taking 33 hours to respond to one support request

3. PogoLinux. like the rest, REALLY fast, on above.net west coast, I have had a total of 45 mins down time out of a total of I think 4-5 months now. I can't remember, but it has been a damn long time. The only reason some servers were down was because of a router upgrade. Their support isnt that great, they are more for intermediate customers/advanced customers who usually don't really need much help... they do have support, it just isnt as good as a place liek dialtone's

Like me, I never have to call them to ask for support, unless it's for having one of my IPs reverse dns or something like that.

4. serverhost.com (greenville facility) --- they rock, like the others, they are also extremely fast, vey reliable and never go down. Support wasn't that great, but we never really needed it at the time.

Bad experiences:
1. *****
2. cobaltracks
that's all i can remember
:)

My vote also goes to Ventures Online (http://www.venturesonline.com)..

I've had a server with them for about 5 months now and have had the best experience ever in comparison to the other providers I've tried. No more sleepless nights (when I do get the chance to take a wink or two  ) and they have come through with flying colors whenever I have had even the slightest doubts.

They never make me feel like I am a nuisance (which was a common feeling I held with my last provider :uhh: ), and actually do the opposite.. they make me feel like I am their #1 client. :D

P.S.
teck, if you still have me on your ICQ.. send me a message and I can try and help you install whatever you have in mind.. for free :)

Oh yeah..ICQ.. I forgot about that :) One thing I hate about ICQ is that if you reformat or use another computer, your contact list doesn't stay the same as with AOL IM. Wait..doesn't AOL own ICQ now? In anycase, I'll fire a message to you after I study..Thanks! :)

We just have taken up a Windows 2000 server from
RackMy.

So far the experience has been excellent with good support, features and connectivity.

Even mails at late hours have been answered and requests fulfilled.

My thanks to Brad and Mike at RackMy.

Brad posts here at WHT and has given me a good deal
on a PIII 933 server.

Cheers,

Matra
