Our server is located with Weinbar. A bit of a pain when ya wanna make some updates! Paul L. 07-09-2001, 10:34 AM Log in to root and run /scripts/upcp this will update the control panel and fix the license expired message. MadMax82 07-09-2001, 10:59 AM Thanks Paul, It prompted me for a username and password so I typed in "root" and then thought the better of it and did not type in a password. As a result it sorta did it's update thing and then stopped at the restarting Interchange on the server. In addition when reviewing the results I came upon this: The CPanel Key Server said returned 500 Request Denied - No license entry found So what exactly should I be putting in as my user name and password while running the update? Or is the problem in a different area? Thanks! Paul L. 07-09-2001, 11:09 AM I take it this is your server right and not a shared server? From the looks of what you say it did update but it looks like the CPanel Key Server is rejecting this server for some reason so it may have a different problem. I would just contact Weinbar, from the looks of it they will have to have the server added back to the CPanel Key Server. MadMax82 07-09-2001, 11:15 AM Yep this is my leased server. Should I have put my root password in to update this or is the login and password combo something that is different? I've put a request into Weinbar but no luck so far. Thanks BTW for the help! Paul L. 07-09-2001, 11:19 AM Yes when you log in as root you will need to put your root password try that and see if it helps but it looks like your server has been removed from the CPanel Key Server. MadMax82 07-09-2001, 11:33 AM Yep my server must be MIA at the moment as everything works right until the key registration part. Thanks anyways. venomx 07-09-2001, 05:59 PM I had the same problem. I emaied BurstNet where my server is. They said I was still using VDI for license handling and updates. But not it will use darkorb. venomx 07-09-2001, 06:00 PM BTW.. That was less than 30 minutes for them to fix then reply... JonnyQuags 07-09-2001, 06:52 PM This has happened to some of ours servers before - with the vdi version running /usr/local/cpanel/cpkeyclt has usually fixed it for us, or resyncing the date with a time server. MadMax82 07-09-2001, 07:12 PM Well it's finally fixed but no reply to tell me as much yet. Such fun. So in the future this can happen each month? If so is this a problem at the VDI end of things or at the host level? I would prefer to avoid this in the future or at least be ready for the customer calls. CRego3D 07-09-2001, 10:49 PM Also, using the darkorb version, make sure you don't chage the /etc/.resolv.conf ..or it will cause lisc problems as well Jordan 07-10-2001, 03:13 PM The normal problem when you get a cpanel/whm lisc file expired error is that your server is checking the wrong license server for permission to run. This typically happens when moving from using VDI for cpanel to Darkorb. You can fix this yourself (assuming your key is on the darkorb lisc server) by editing /scripts/updated and replacing update.cp3.vdi.net with updates.cpanel.net (use crtl-w to search and then replace it, only one instance in this file) The type /scripts/updatenow (this will update scripts in the /scripts directory to darkorb versions, including upcp) Give it 30 seconds to update, then run /scripts/upcp You'll then need an update usr/pass from your host, or there is another one used by default (check the crontab on your server, Im not giving it out here). After you've updated cpanel you'll now be using the darkorb license server, reverse the process for switching to vdi. You can check this as indicated above by typing /usr/local/cpanel/cpkeyclt Enjoy.. MadMax82 07-10-2001, 09:06 PM Thanks for all the info! |
