Ok,
i'm trying to add a site to yahoo's database, but i keep finding the page that's like $300 a year to add your site. Can you add your site to yahoo for free like you can with google, or did they do away with it. Sorry, i have added a site to yahoo in a while, so i'm highly confused. Thanks,

Hi Matt,
You will be happy to know Google is currently providing Yahoo! with their database.
So if you get into Google you should also be on Yahoo!

i went to google, and added the URL to my site. Do i also have to go to the open directory and add the site there, or will google put it there when it crawls my site?

Yes, you should submit your site to Dmoz.org in the appropriate category.
you should also get your site links to similar themed sites, hosting directories etc.
Google is currently under-going a restructuring of their algorithm, so their database isn't exactly stable at the moment, but the more links you have to your sites from sites already in Google then it is highly likely, your site will get crawled/spidered and indexed alot quicker.
Once in Google, you should find your site on Yahoo!/AOL/Netscape/Go.com etc, in no-time.
Other directories worth submitting to, include Goguides.org and Joeant.com
