How can I trust them ? Please give me some advice about them. Thanks I appreciate that you need to trust somebody to give them your money, but one of the best ways to find out is to ask THEM. Contact info is on a web site. What would you like to know about our company beyond what's on a web site? We DO offer a 30-day unconditional money back guarantee, to say nothing about protection your credit card gives to you. We WILL be offering a tall-free support to VH300 and VH500 account customers in a 4th quarter. While it seems a lot of people of this board do not want us around (I guess they can't match our offer), we are here to stay and we CAN be trusted! Thank you. lonesail 07-08-2001, 10:23 PM Yes, the owner moved our domains to a different registrar this year. What would you like to know about our company beyond what's on a web site? I suspect that what tlik means is that the site contains no clues as to physical location, no phone numbers, nothing like that. Many people do find that to be an obstacle to "trusting" a company they've never heard of. There actually is no contact info on the website, the "contact" link is simply a form. I can't speak for tlik, but that kind of stuff -- combined with a page headed "about us" that says nothing at all about the company -- is always an obstacle for me; especially in light of the rash of here-today-gone-tomorrow small hosting companies that are cropping up these days. My comments shouldn't be taken as reflecting on hostiva specifically; I don't know anything about hostiva. Just trying to explain why people might ask questions along the lines as those tlik asked. lonesail 07-09-2001, 10:54 AM JayC, you are absolutely correct. You make a very good point and I agree with you 100%. I misunderstood what tlik was asking, and this OF COURSE people have right to ask these questions. My answer to this is that we are first and foremost a consulting company. All of our employees are consultants, and we are not comfortable listing a phone number for people to call when we are hard-pressed to dedicate any of our skilled resources to answering phones. And to provide anything less then a dedicated (and thus adequate) phone support would be unethical on our part and bad for our clients. Providing this service is on our to-do list, and as I mentioned we will be implementing a toll-free tech support in the 4th quarter of this year. Thank you for your comments. lonesail 07-09-2001, 11:05 AM Originally posted by tlik I can't find the contact info. How can I trust them ? Please give me some advice about them. Thanks tlik, I have been authorised to offer you a free VH100 service for 1 year. Maybe that would build your trust. If you're interested, please send email with your information (name, address, phone, username preference, domain name) to sales@hostiva.com Please mention "free offer" in the subject. Thank you. Mezz64 07-09-2001, 01:35 PM I want a free VH100 Package. Since you seem to be giving them out. :D I need hosting for my almostparallel domain after being burned by 9kd.net nancy 07-09-2001, 01:46 PM uh oh someone's gonna get alot of request for some packages... lonesail 07-09-2001, 02:24 PM Originally posted by Mezz64 I want a free VH100 Package. Since you seem to be giving them out. :D I need hosting for my almostparallel domain after being burned by 9kd.net Well, we do offer a NEW hosting service... John, you're in luck. As a "Grand Opening" celebration we have decided to offer five (5) people free hosting for a year (VH100 account). 1. Reserved for tlik until 8/1/2001 2. John (Mezz64) - send us your info 3. ... 4. ... 5. ... First come, first serve. (No pun intended) nancy 07-09-2001, 02:35 PM aww i want free hosting too, but never registered a domain so poo. :( lonesail 07-09-2001, 02:40 PM Nancy, we provide sub-domain hosting as well.(yourname.hostiva.com) Check our website. Let me know. nancy 07-09-2001, 03:02 PM what i mean was i didn't have a domain now. but i'm gonna get one for my birthday.... but i really don't need the hosting as much now. also i think it would be better for other people to grab the chance of getting free hosting than me. since my doman is gonna have no profit. and others do have a business, and i think they would need it more than i do. ebird 07-09-2001, 03:25 PM lonesail, I think I could get another one, right? I will send you the info. Thanks. ebird choon 07-09-2001, 03:32 PM Hi lonesail, I just email to the email address: sales@hostiva.com Hope to hear from you soon... :D Thanks. Regards, Choon triponix 07-09-2001, 05:32 PM hi lonesail am i on time :) i really like ur offer ( free vh100) so what should be done to be on the lucky five list lonesail 07-09-2001, 07:47 PM ebird, choon, triponix, please check your Private Messages. Thank you. tlik 07-09-2001, 07:57 PM Thanks lonesail. Of course I don't refuse your free VH100. :D But I'm most interested in your : Shared Hosting 20 - $4.95 yearly 20 MB disk space Because our customers need it. I'll buy for about 3-4 packs for each month (we have lots of customers like that). That's why I have to find a company that I can TRUST ! I don't want to find another place and move 100+ of client's websites when you disappear after 1 or 2 years. Currently, I have some domain hosted by HostIgnition and AletiaHosting. They are fast & cheap, but they don't offer small package. This is what our clients need : - 5MB - 1 POP3 e-mail - 1 FTP account - CGI-BIN - FP Extension That's all. And they only pay for 2USD/month. So, I have to find some packages around 10USD/month for 15-20 clients, or 4-5USD/year for each client. tlik 07-09-2001, 08:06 PM I forgot to tell you that I live in Vietnam, so "a 30-day unconditional money back guarantee" is not one of my condition when I choose a web hosting company. I don't know how you pay back the money to me ? by check ? In my country, the bank charge 20USD for each check, and it take about 2 months... :( My advice to you : your web design is one of the most important things to build the client's trust. Good web design is better, like : HostIgnition, Site5 ... Via Internet, we can only see your web, not your office. Anyway, thanks for your offer. lonesail 07-09-2001, 08:47 PM Originally posted by tlik I forgot to tell you that I live in Vietnam, so "a 30-day unconditional money back guarantee" is not one of my condition when I choose a web hosting company. Anyway, thanks for your offer. tlik, we take payments and issue refunds through credit cards. As for the good design, I guess it (like beauty) is in the eyes of beholder. We like it ourselves (which I understand doesn't mean much), but more importantly we had a pretty good response from people... Sorry we couldn't be of more help. I guess that means that one more free slot is now open, for those who care to apply. tlik 07-09-2001, 08:53 PM If your service is good, I'll be with you for a long time. lonesail 07-09-2001, 09:09 PM Originally posted by tlik If your service is good, I'll be with you for a long time. that's why we have this free offer... ebird 07-09-2001, 09:55 PM lonesail, I have replied your PM. TheRazor 07-19-2001, 03:59 PM I will take one... lonesail 07-20-2001, 06:07 PM Sorry, Razor, all gone, even tlik's spot since he did not want it... of course it's still available for him till 8/1 if he changes his mind. With our prices, however, you really did not miss much... tlik 07-20-2001, 07:49 PM Hello lonesail, I sent you an e-mail that include my info a few days ago. My name is Duong Vi Khoa and the domain I want to host is : rao-vat.com Do you remember that mail ? abeeee 09-06-2001, 11:23 AM Does hostiva offer akopia 4.8? At first it stated on their site that it was using akopia, now it states miva. Im confused. I sure hope they offer akopia since its one of the most popular search engines. BTW anyone with akopia experience, do I need to know programming to set it up?:cartman: hrac 09-07-2001, 04:06 AM Hello, If there are some remaining free VH-100 accounts, I would like to have one.
