I am currently helping some poeple out a fan website for movies. The website contains a lot of static pages with info on the cast/characters, background info etc. It also contains a message board (PHP/MySQL). Finally it contains Quicktimes of the movie trailers, ads etc.

My question is can a RaQ handle this? On the last site they did traffic was about one gig per day (compressed) during the month that the film opened. That amout was without the trailer downloads.

They go through a lot of bandwidth and I'd like to use something like rackshack if the server can handle it.

TIA,

Frank

Hmm it should....Why not cap their IP so they wont slow down the ENTIER server

Sorry if I was not clear. This will be the only thing on the RaQ.

They need a lot of bandwidth. I can't find anything cheaper than rackshack ($99 for 150 gig per month).

Aloha ya should be able to handel it if it is the opnly thing on the RaQ ya might need to bump up the memory if people start using the board a lot
I have a raq at rackshack service sucks I always say do your own dns but since you are doing just the one site you might just have there dns doen that way one less thing to mess with.

there connect times seem pretty good they have had a few network probs but bang for buck hard to beat
you may also want to look at www.efreeservers.com a lot of bandwith for the $ and good servers ya can get a good scsi box over a ide RaQ also get a real pIII
depends on budget I guess

Honu,

Thanks for the comments. Looked at efreeservers, but 20 months is too long for them. Most of their sites only last for 18 months.

Besides, they like $99/month a lot better than $299/month :D
