Hi, am planning to setup a small community webhosting here in my area and have purchased 2 PCs with 1.5ghz processors and 40gb 7200 hdds. with a 256kbps connection, what else do i need to be able to get this up and running and be able to control applications from the web?

I live in the philippines btw and am open to people in here who want to have their stuff colocated in my area.

Is this a home connection?! Are you actually going to CHARGE people for this? If so, then all I can say is: don't.

You NEED to have a fast line (much faster than 0.2mbit) and should hopefully be in a suitable enviroment.

Like stephen says, you need a MUCH better connection (I have better then that for my home connection and I can barely run a server for myself). Other than that, you'll need Remote Reboot APC if you dont live next to the server, Generators, Air conditioning, Support staff, Server Software (PHP, Perl, MySQL, ASP), A control panel, and a hell ofalot of know how.

yup home connection but am just going to server people here in my area, locally, not more than 50 sites..maybe less, mostly small company emails and/or sites......and fast connection here in the philippines are expensive too....leased line would cost at least around 1200USD. and that's not even t1 i think.

in terms of managing it..what would i need? aside from the backups and the generators and airconditioning...

you mentioned server softwares, where could we get those?

Maybe get PHPMANAGER =) it's very useful and helps you stay organized.
