How many of you web hosts all your customers to run a IRC Daemon?

If you do, do you charge more?

We only allow ircd to be run on dedicated servers, and even then, only with prior approval.

Any host that allows any virtual hosting customer to run ircd is crazy. :D

Actually I'd be rather pissed if I had a dedicated box and a host said I couldn't run what ever I want on it, except childporn/warez and stuff like that, but legit software, thats why you get a dedicated box is to be able to have that kinda freedom....

Most dedicated hosts will NOT allow you to run ircd. The potential for DoS attacks is just too high, usually.

I tottally agree.
DDos attacks on IRC servers can really take down anything!
Its silly for them even to allow irc connections, hence most dedicated server providers do not allow it and there are only a few colo's that allow shell box's/ircds to be colocated there.

Which i also totally agree with.
I wont however when i want my shell box to be colocated however ;)

We have a couple dedicated servers running IRC and I can say in the future we will not allow them. 80% of the time the machines that run IRC are the ones to get hacked/attacked etc. Just creates a reall big headache for everyone.
